*THIS IS A SPOILER-FREE REVEIW OF GODZILLA VS KONG (2021), WITH A DASH OF SPACE JAM*
Shortly after getting off the thrill ride that was the Snyder Cut, I decided to view the latest installment to Legendary’s Kaiju series: Godzilla vs Kong, and I’m glad to report that I thought it was absolutely terrific!
Both monsters were able to show off their epicness on a grand scale, but I would say that there was slightly more focus on Kong rather than Godzilla, which was not a bad thing (every kaiju fan knows that Kong is more of a “gentler/compassionate” creature than Godzilla). The fights were remarkable, the cinematography was simply magnificent, and the story was really enjoyable to go through.
Just to put it out there, there is a definite winner between the lizard and the ape, so you all can rest easy knowing that going into the movie.
Most of the human characters were okay to watch, but some of them were great. Millie Bobby Brown’s character, Madison (from Godzilla KOTM), was given so much more depth in this film, all the scenes of Kong and the little who comforts him(the one from the trailers) were so wholesome, and the Firefist dude from Deadpool 2 was a great comedic relief.
There were also some new monsters who were introduced. I won’t say who showed up to the party, but I will say that they were fucking spectacular. Everything in that movie was fucking spectacular, which is why I give the movie a solid 9/10.
Now let’s move on to more pressing matters. The Space Jam: A New Legacy trailer dropped yesterday, it looks like the movie Ready Player One but with basketball….. I like it. The movie does seem to follow a different plot compared to the original, but it still looks like it’s going to be a fun movie, and it seems that there are going to be a lot of Easter Eggs in this movie (time to get ready for another egg hunt).
