So…..last week was pretty eventful. I made a long awaited pilgrimage back to the sacred grounds of Javits Center to attend the glorious event of New York Comic-Con! It felt really good to be back on the convention scene ever since it was cancelled during the “year that will not be named”. It was as if a part of me was missing during that time, but when I first stepped through those doors of the Javits Center, I felt whole once more. There is a lot of ground we need to cover, so let’s get down to the nitty gritty of my time there.
The Atmosphere
There was a pretty mellow vibe amongst the crowd at NYCC, everyone there was wearing a medical mask (which wasn’t that surprising), but the convention as a whole was not crowded. I mean it was crowded, but it wasn’t the normal kind of NYCC crowded. It was more “mall food court” crowded than the standard “Black Friday mall” crowded, and found that pretty comforting. I would usually complain about the showfloor being too crowded for me to walk around, but this time the show floor felt more open. A person can actually breathe on that floor for once.
The booths were all spaced out, making viewing and purchasing merch easier. There were so many cool items on the floor, but nothing much to grab my attention. I just bought myself a cool sword and a Deadpool shirt (that may be adapted into a future cosplay). My parents brought some posters to frame, and my brother bought a tamagotchi for his girlfriend (it was really sweet).
My friends on the other hand spent an ass-load of money buying merch. They were carrying bags of posters, plushies, pins, and a freaking Attack on Titan mystery box. It was hilarious walking around with them trying to carry all their things.
The People

Meeting up with friends is one of the main things I look forward to when I head out to conventions, but unfortunately my usual cosplay gang couldn’t come this year (mainly because they went on different days), but I did get to catch up with some other good pals. Luckily it was all drama-free (well there was some behind the scenes drama, but it’s not worth getting into), and we all had a blast walking the showfloor.
We talked about comics, anime (mostly Jojo and Chainsaw Man), and we chatted about our personal affairs. I always felt that conventions are more fun when you go with people you like, such as friends and family.

What makes the experience even more fun is when you run into friends that you didn’t even know were going to be there (just hope you run into friends you like, because it’ll be more awkward than Zoom college lecture if you run into someone you don’t like).
The Panels
I reserved seats to see two panels the day I went, and let’s just say they both took some unexpecting turns. The first one I attened was a fan preimere for the new Chucky TV series airing on USA and SyFy, and I can honestly say that the series looks promising.
image taken from syfy.com
The show seems to be focusing more on teenagers, which is close to their Child’s Play roots, and this show is a clear continuation of the Cult of Chucky movie. We were introduced to an interesting cast of new characters, and it seems that Chucky has his work “cut” out for him. I am also happy to report that there is graphic language and gore present in the show, so that’s a really good sign of a fun series. I’m pretty invested into seeing where this show takes us, and I look forward to watching it when it airs on TV, but choosing between USA and SyFy will be a tough choice.
Overview
NYCC 2021 was a very fun experience, and again it felt great to be back there. Hopefully things will be a lot calmer for NYCC 2022 till the point when they start selling multi-day passes because I miss going for three days. Also I hope they chill with the whole medical mask rule because I miss wearing my regular cosplay mask, which I know sounds weird to say but it’s just something about wearing my original masks that feel so liberating.
So yeah, that’s it. That was my time at New York Comic-Con. There is nothing else to tell.
…..
Oh, you’re probably noticing that I only spoke about one panel when I said I went to two. I don’t feel like talking about that panel, at least not here. Too much happened at the panel for it to be compacted into one small part of this blog. So stay tuned for Blog 20 where I will talk about the second panel, and I have to say it was quite a shocker!!
I’ve been a little behind on all this drama about the lawsuit of Disney vs the heirs of Stan Lee, Gene Colan, and Steve Ditko, but here’s what I understand so far…..
So apparently the heirs of these famous comic book creators are suing Disney to acquire the rights of characters such as Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, Black Widow, Captain Marvel, and many more characters to even list (basically the whole MCU roster), but now Marvel is counter suing stating that the characters were created when Lee, Colan, and Ditko were employees at Marvel, which means that the company owns the characters, not the creators or their heirs.
If Disney happens to lose this lawsuit, and that’s a big “if”, the rest of Phase 4 and the entirety of Phase 5 will be thrown into shambles. The new Doctor Strange movie probably won’t happen, Spider-Man will be without a home, and the possible future movies with the X-Men and Fantastic Four will cease to exist. Simply put, the MCU will be utterly destroyed.
I honestly have conflicting feelings about this whole situation because on one hand I do feel that the creators should have the rights to their creations, but on the other hand I’m really looking forward to the new MCU movies and tv shows. Phase 4 is finally doing something that the fans have been dreaming of seeing on the big screen.

MULTIVERSE MOVIES!!!!!!!
With shows like WandaVison, Loki, and What if…? are pushing the MCU’s storytelling skills to the limit, and I’m all for it! Sure I’ve said in the past that Marvel is going to complete shit with having almost all their new content (comics and some films/shows) catering to the Twitter Puritans and other political agendas, but maybe the new Phase will restore my faith in Marvel. I just pray that they don’t fuck this up, especially with how they will introduce the X-Men (or X-People) into the MCU, but with this lawsuit I’m not so sure. Only time will tell what the MCU’s future is.
In other news….
I will be venturing off the NYCC this Friday!!!!! It has been a whole year since I’ve been to a convention of any kind, and I am so psyched to come back. Unfortunately due to the CDC guidelines for the virus, I might not be able to embrace the full experience of the con. I’m indifferent to wearing the medical mask at NYCC, I always wear masks to Comic-Con, but the fact that we have to be visibly seen with the masks on is a bummer. This icon is on the health guidelines page on the official NYCC website:
Image taken from newyorkcomiccon.com
I honestly feel a little attacked that they used this particular mask outline for their “No Costume Masks” icon. Then we have the whole social distancing thing, which may make it difficult to take photos with other cosplayers, but I don’t know how enforced that rule is going to be (or even at all for that matter). What I do know is that despite all those guidelines, I will still have a lot of fun there. I have RSVP for the world premiere panle for Syfy’s Chucky series and a special Ghostbusters: Afterlife panel, which will be showing off some never before seen footage from the new movie. It would be sick if they showed the entire movie at the convention, but I highly doubt it.
Just thinking about NYCC is getting me so pumped. I will be taking a lot of photos while I’m there, so be sure to stay tuned on my Instagram @legendpool, and I will be discussing my time at NYCC in the next blog. Until next time readers, this is your friendly neighborhood Deadpool, signing off.
People just love getting cranky on the internet, don’t they? As the title above suggests, I hate Cancel Culture with a burning passion. What originally started as a way to expose sexual harassment in the workplace during the Me Too Movement, has devolved into a toxic movement that targets random people based on weak accusations and meaningless, conflicting opinions. One of the most recent examples of this “movement” in action is the situation with Nintendo’s reveal of the voice cast for the new Mario movie.
Image taken from animationmagazine.net
During the recent Nintendo Direct livestream on YouTube; Chris Pratt, Charlie Day, Anya Taylor-Joy, Keegan-Michael Key, and Jack Black were all revealed to be part of the cast for Illumination’s Mario movie, and the reception was a little mixed to say the least. Some people were happy with this cast, some people were a little confused with the line-up, and then you had people who were outright furious, specifically with Chris Pratt being casted as the voice of Mario. Now some of these angry people were upset that Illumination didn’t choose Charles Martinet, who is the voice of Mario in the video games, to voice Mario in the movie, but the majority who are upset are the people who are trying to cancel Chris Pratt. Let me explain….
For some time now, the Twitter Puritians have been trying to cancel Chris Pratt under the claim that he is a republican Trump-supporter/anti-LGBTQ Christian, and it just sounds like fucking bullshit. From what I gathered about this whole situation is that Chris Pratt is a part of this Christain Church called “Zoe Church ”, which might be connected to another Christian Church that is associated with far-right and anti-LGBTQ beliefs. I’m not entirely sure how true those claims are, but what I do know is that Chris Pratt has never really said anything that could make him out to be homophobic or transphobic. Also there is no proof (at least none that I could find) of his political affiliation anywhere, and even if he is a republican, I highly doubt he’s a Trump-supporter. May I remind you who his father-in-law is?
Image taken from Variety.com
The former governor of California, and out-spoken Trump-hater, Arnold Schwarzenegger. If Pratt has ever admitted to be a Trump-supporter, the headlines would be “Marvel Star, Chris Pratt, Reported Missing”, and we all would know how it happened.
The amount of hate this movie is getting already is ridiculous, and it’s all because of a bunch of butt-hurt morons on Twitter. It’s hilarious how they think complainning to Nintendo is going to change anything, but thank God that Nintendo is smart enough to ignore them.
You see, this is the main issue with Cancel Culture. If a person who is the target for cancellation “bends the knee” and apologizes for these accusations, no matter how weak or dumb the accusations may be, that gives the angry folk a false sense that they’ll get whatever they want if they throw a tantrum. Now I know that some people will say that Cancel Culture has done some good things such as exposing people like Harvey “Cangofuckhimself”, but there were victim testimonies and other pieces of evidence that proved the sexual harassment accusations to be true, and he was rightly punished. This new wave of Cancel Culture is full of young adults who are probably SJW just to gain views on the internet, and they only sought out to cancel shit that hurt their feelings.
With how sensitive and political society is becoming, it’s almost not fun to be a fan of anything at this point. What worse is when Cancel Culture tries to cancel old movies, tv shows, and music that I personally identify with. Take the “Looney Tunes” for an example, woke culture is saying that those shows were a bad influence on children for being crude and misogynistic, which is ironic since the “Looney Tunes” were originally created for adults. How would you feel if the shows and movies you grew up with, the media that helped you become the cool person you are today, was suddenly deemed “racist” or “sexist” by Cancel Culture? It can make a person think “If these people say the shows I liked as a kid are horrible and demeaning to others, does that make me a horrible person?”
Also can we talk about how Cancel Culture can go after people who share an opinion that doesn’t mesh well with theirs because God forbid somebody has a different opinion? This one YouTuber by the name of Gothix almost got canceled last year because she felt that casting Ariel as a black woman in the new live-action “The Little Mermaid” movie was unnecessary and a sign of Disney pandering to make quick money. Check out this link to hear more of her story and her views on Cancel Culture: https://youtu.be/GBcHhvQCLNQ
My message to the “Cancel Culture” movement is that maybe instead of hate messaging people you don’t like, why don’t you just ignore them? Do what most comic fans are doing about the new Marvel and DC comic books, and find something that pleases your interests. Marvel and DC comics are political pamphlets now, and because of that we’re all switching to Team Manga. If you Purirtains can’t do that, then just fuck off and take your narcissim off the internet! If we can all just admit that we’re all a bunch of assholes in our own ways, instead of trying to act like we’re hot shit, I believe the world would be a much better place.

Do you know what I see in that pic above? I see works of art. I see the characters I grew up reading about, characters with amazing stories that shaped me into the very person I am today. Sure I may be a total wacko who relates to an insufferable mercenary, but I’m pretty damn proud of that.
Comic books, movies, video games, they all acted as a temporary escape from the boredom of ordinary life. It provided a chance for people like me to get sucked into unimaginable adventures. Adventures that taught us lessons about what it means to be human, and the people who taught us those lessons became role models us fans desired to become. Now I can go on and on about how comic books are the backbone of nerd culture, but unfortunately this is a PSA on a current crisis within the nerd world (and not the fun crisis like Infinite Crisis or The Secret Wars). I’m talking about a group of people who are out to destroy well-established character arcs for the sake of pushing a political agenda and making easy money. The ones who are toxifying the internet because they get cranky if something they see or read is not “PC” enough. I’m talking about the Woke Puritans from Twitter who have breached into the nerd world!

“And if you don’t like my politics, don’t buy my book” is a direct quote from Kelly Sue DeConnick, writer for Captain Marvel and creator of comic series Bitch Planet, as a response to claiming that comics have always been about politics. She said this during her interview at Syfy Wire back in 2017, but it seems that her words are quickly becoming relevant again if you look at today’s best selling adult graphic novels.
For the past year, and most of 2020, manga has been dominating sales within the graphic novels, seemingly leaving Marvel and DC comics in the dust. You may be wondering how this is possible, and the answer lies within one the biggest issues ravaging social media.
Politics….but not just any politics. The problem is the forceful inclusion of “woke” politics.
“Woke” was defined as a concept for becoming self-aware of the racial injustices that occur in today’s society, but now it’s used to describe angry people who bitch and moan about things that hurt their feelings. These people, “Puritans” as some people would refer to them as, have taken over the internet and entertainment outlets to jam their political opinions right down our throats, and more people need to start taking notice! It’s because of them why we get stuff like this in our comics:
These panels are simply horrid. It’s like Deviantart had an orgy with Tumblr and the cringe side of Reddit! You have a new Marvel Boy introducing himself like a deviantart OC, Hellcat checking a depressed Tony Stark’s white privilege for some reason, and then you have the dumpster fire that is I Am Not Starfire as notable examples of woke politics forcing its way into comics. It makes no fucking sense!
Comic books were meant to filled with fun stories, emphaisis on the word FUN, but now they have turned into fucking polticial agenda PSAs! Manga on the other hand doesn’t give a shit about those kinds of politics, with their main goal being to write entertaining stories! Sure the Puritans when nuts when certain manga titles like Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out and Don’t Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro were getting anime adaptations because they found those titles “offensive”, hell they find a lot of manga titles to be offensive, but Japan just doesn’t care!
All these different manga titles are rocking the sale charts because they don’t pander to the woke crowd, but rather they focus on making their stories fun and entertaining, which is something Marvel and DC used to do. I want to reinforce that diversity with different racial groups and LGBTQA groups is NOT a bad thing, but what is bad is making diversity the main focus of your story.

I like looking back at this moment from an old Spider-Man issue where Miles talks about the struggle with creating his own identity as a superhero. To me it feels like Miles was breaking the fourth wall here when he said “This is–I don’t want to be the black Spider-Man. I want to be Spider-Man”, and he is outright stating that he wants to be known as Spider-Man and nothing else. The problem with diversity in comics today is that the writers make a person’s race, gender, or sexual identity their main character trait without giving them any more substance. What I love the most about Miles Morales is that he is the symbol that anybody can be a hero if they are brave enough to be one. What you are should not be the main focus, but what is important is what you fight for. He is Spider-Man, and his race/nationality should not be the main focus of his character.
There is still good content here in the West, such as these notable shows, movies and comics:
Most of these shows were adapted from indie comics, so I would say that the future looks bright for manga and western indie comics. It just hurts my heart to see the comic groups I grew up reading start failing because they feel that pandering to the masses is the best way to make a quick buck.
I dream of one day writing my own comic book series, and my stories would be told like the comics I used to read. My stories will be filled with so much gore, dark humor, and characters that will give the Puritans a nightmare, but my stories will also have great storytelling. I want to give the real fans a story they can enjoy, something that will get them sucked into a fantasy world of my own design, something that they will go to bed dreaming about. I want to make people happy when they look at the comic book section and find my books there, because that’s what comics are all about.
HAPPINESS!
If you are still interested in learning more about how woke politics and the Puritans are ruining comics, I’ll leave a link to some entertaining videos at the end. Thank you everyone for reaching the end, and I’ll see you all next time. This is your friendly neighborhood merc with a mouth wishing you to not have a good day but to have a great day!
*THIS BLOG CONTAINS SPOILERS FROM THE MOVIE FREE GUY
Image taken from screenrant.com
Free Guy. A story about a video game told through the eyes of an ordinary NPC.
My God, I love this movie! Sorry Ready Player One and Jumanji, I have a new favorite video game movie! It was everything that a person could want for a video game movie, and then some! The movie is pure euphoria for the eyes, and it is a must see if you’re a fan of the actors above, or if you just love video games!
Summary
The majority of the movie takes place in an MMORPG called “Free City”, and our main protagonist, Guy, talks about a powerful group of people known as “The Sunglasses People” (the players) that don’t abide by the laws of Free City, and he thinks they’re fucking awesome! Guy proceeds to talk about his daily routine and his amazing job at the bank that gets robbed multiple times a day (he’s cool with it). He’s happy with the same old routine, until he sees a player named Molotov Girl, and believes that she is the girl of his dreams. This causes Guy to break free of his normal programming, and instead of allowing a player to rob the bank, he fights and kills the player(by accident), and takes their sunglasses. He puts on the glasses to be presented with his own HUD (Heads UP Display), which grant him the ability to see and use the features the game “Free City” offers to the players.
He uses these new abilities to try to impress Molotov Girl, but she turns him down because she thinks that Guy is just some noob (new player). She does advise Guy to start completing missions so he can level up, and by “missions” she means robbing and killing other NPCs, but Guy would rather do nice things to gain xp (experience points) and level up, to which Molotov Girl says it is possible but not very popular among other players. So Guy decides to play as the “good guy”, or “great guy” as he puts it, and becomes a social media sensation in the real world.
Image taken from express.co.uk
Speaking of the real world, we later meet the player behind Molotov Girl, Milly, who sole reason for playing “Free City” is to prove that development studio who made the game stole her code from her game. Well, her and her friend Keys’ code. Both Milly and Keys were indie game developers who created a life-simulator game called “Life Itself”, where players can interact with NPCs with adaptable AIs. Their game was brought by the studio that would go on to make “Free City”, and unfortunately “Life Itself” was never made, and Milly was left to find proof that her and Keys’ code was used to create “Free City”, whereas Keys is currently at that very studio.
Keys feels that Milly’s investigation is a fool’s errand, but when he discovers that Guy is a NPC with an adapting AI, he immediately decides to fully dedicate his time to help Milly. It’s revealed that not only do all the NPCs in “Free City” were created using Keys’ code from “Life Itself”, but the original build for “Life Itself ” is hidden within “Free City”!
After Guy goes through an existential crisis whenMilly tells him he’s an NPC in a video game, he decides to help her and Keys find the proof they need to expose creator of “Free City”, and they use said proof to get back their original build. The evil studio is exposed for being frauds, and our heroes get a happy ending. The movie ends with “Life Itself” being completed, and all the NPCs from “Free City” were transferred there to live in peace.
Milly struggles to say goodbye to Guy, so he does it for her by telling her he has come to accept that he is an NPC, but the feelings he has for her are real. He broke from his routine when he saw her because his feelings were based on his creator’s emotions. Guy’s code was solely created by Keys, and Keys based his code on his feelings for Milly. Milly realizes that she wasn’t really falling for Guy, but she was falling for Keys. In a strange way, Guy was Keys all along.
My Thoughts

Ryan Reynolds, Jodie Comer, Joe Keery, and Taika Waititi all did great jobs playing their roles, and they brought so much emotion into this story. Who really blew me away was Ryan’s portrayal of Guy because I feel like most of us can relate to feeling like a background character in someone else’s story, but Guy shows us that it’s never too late to flip the script and become the main character of your own story.
Video game movies do not have the best track record of being great movies, but thankfully Free Guy is one of the few exceptions to that stigma. The fact that the movie is centered around NPCs is what makes it so alluring. We have a movie like Ready Player One with amazing CGI and cool Easter Eggs, but it lacked three-dimensional characters and a unique plot. Free Guy did not rely heavily on Easter Eggs, and their CGI was amazing, but what made the movie special were the characters. They were endearing, they were funny, they acted like total badasses, and they made me grow attached to them, and the plot enchanced my feelings towards the characters.
Free Guy shows that there are no background characters, and that we are all the center of our own stories. You just have to be brave enough to step into the spotlight, and show the world what you are capable of. I give this movie a 10/10. Until next time, I am your cosplayer for fun, and in the wise words of Guy “Don’t have a good day….have a great day”.
It’s been over two weeks since it’s premiere and Masters of the Universe: Revelations is still the talk of the internet, just not for the reasons you think. Most diehard He-Man fans are still sending hate towards Kevin Smith, and the not-so diehard fans, like myself, are not so much as upset as we are disappointed with the show. Let me explain why….
“Bait-and-Switch”
Most fans felt that they were lied to about what the plot of the show really was. When the first trailer for MOTU: Revelations dropped, it mostly contained footage of He-Man and Skeletor battling each other. This lead most of us to believe that this series was going to be about the same old blood feud between the two archenemies(which isn’t bad), but now we see that most of the footage was from episode 1 since both He-Man and Skeletor are absent for most of Part 1, making Teela the new main protagonist.
When people see or hear the title “Masters of the Universe”, they immediately think of He-Man, not Teela. Killing off the face of your brand in the literal first episode of your new series , and replacing them with a not as popular side characters as the new lead is fucking stupid move. That’s like making a new Friends show with Gunther as the main character.
Now what does all of this have to do with the term “bait-and-switch”? This could be explained in two parts; fans were “baited” into watching a new show about He-Man. All the promo posters had his face on them, all the new action figures were He-Man, Skeletor, Man-At-Arms, and Evil Lyn (no Teela figures), and He-Man even got his own fucking cereal to promote the show!
Image taken from screenrant.com
We were all expecting a He-Man centric show, but then the “switch” happened in episode one. Prince Adam’s/He-Man’s death moved Teela into main character territory, giving the audience a feeling that this show has used a cheap tactic to forcefully promote female empowerment. Teela’s character has been altered to fit the new, “feminist”, female-lead medium that believes that the only way a woman can be a badass is by being an asshole, and that’s a fucking dick move. You have Wonder Woman being a strong female lead who isn’t an asshole, and people love her! I will admit that Teela was pretty annoying throughout Part 1, and I will even go so far to say that I didn’t even like her character that much. For fucksake, I found Roboto to be a more compelling character than Teela! I haven’t seen people this uspet over a bait-and-switch since The Last of Us 2 release, and that hate was also justified.
*SPOILER TERRITORY FOR ANYONE WHO HASN’T PLAYED LAST OF US 2 YET*
All the cinematic trailers for Last of Us 2 showed the main character of the game, Ellie, talking with a much older Joel, and this caused fans to believe that Joel would play an important role in the game. For the people who played the game, we all know that was a load of bullshit when we saw Joel get killed in the prologue portion of the game, and all the scenes from the trailers where we saw Ellie talking to an older Joel was actually revealed to be a flashback sequence with a young Ellie talking to a young Joel. Naughty Dogs, the game’s developers, made this huge lie just introduce the now mildly-hated Abby, and the topic of lies brings us to our next topic.
Lies
The “blunt” lies from the Bluntman himself, Kevin Smith, which has many fans pissed off. This all started a year before the release of Revelations, when a YouTube channel called “Clownfish TV” tweeted plot details about the shows, and they were accurate as hell. They got the details from an inside source, and they talked about how Teela was going to be the main character and that she was going to be getting a girlfriend (I believe they were referring to Andra). Kevin Smith later tweeted in response to Clownfish TV:
Image taken from boundingintocomics.com
A few months later he tweeted this:
Image taken from boundingintocomics.com
Both of these tweets contradict what we would later see in Part 1, and Kevin Smith went on to admit during his podcast “Fatman Beyond ” that he did lie in those tweets because he hated how the plot was leaked. The fact that he admits to lying is what caused him to burn a lot of bridges between himself and his fanbase, and this might affect how well Masters of the Universe: Revelations Part 2 will do when it premieres.
Now I’m an optimistic guy, and I have faith that Part 2 will be good. Unfortunately this looks like it’s going to be another Solo situation, and I’m referring to how Solo: A Star Wars Story did poorly in the box office and reviews because it came out a few months after the very hated Last Jedi movie. Solo was a great Star Wars movie, but people were still riding the hate train when it came out.
Final Thoughts
I hope that the rest of Revelations is good, but I am still disappointed with Kevin Smith for adding in “woke” politics into the He-Man mythos. Kevin Smith is normally known for making crude and edgy jokes in his movies and comic books, but now I don’t even recognize him in his new work. Part of me believes that he may be trying to act “woke” because people are uspet of his past friendship with that bag of dicks, Harvey Weinstein, and another part of me thinks he’s just trying to make a quick cash-grab by appeasing the toxic Twitter folk. Whatever his reasoning is, he’s being a fucking idiot.
If you all are still curious about the Kevin Smith “betrayal”, I’ll link two articles at the end for you all to check out.
Now I’m off to watch the new Suicide Squad movie, and hopefully it will help me forget about all of this fucking drama. Until next time, this is your cosplayer for fun signing off.
*WARNING THIS BLOG CONTAINS SPOILERS FROM THE MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE: REVELATIONS SERIES ON NETFLIX*
Image taken from whats-on-netflix.com
So Hollywood seems to have a fetish for reviving old shows and movies instead of making new/original ideas. Most of these revivals usually have the goal of just being a cash-grab (i.e. Star Wars Episode 7-9), but some of these revivals were made with good intentions (i.e. Bumblebee). With that being said, let’s discuss Netflix’s Masters of the Universe: Revelation.
Summary
This five-episode season was meant to act as a “part one” too a much bigger story, but these episodes did leave a sour taste in some people’s mouths. The season started off like an old school episode of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, opening with Skeletor and his minions attempting to take over Castle Grayskull, and He-Man, with the Masters, trying to stop him from doing so. Skeletor reaches the lower levels of the castle, and he reveals that he never wanted to rule the castle, but instead he wants the ancient power hidden within it. He finds “The Ord of Power ”, an ancient relic containing all the magic that flows through Eternia, and he aims to destroy it so he can absorb its power. He successfully destroys it, but the Sorceress manages to slow down time to relay a message to both He-Man and Teela, warning them that Eternia will be destroyed when the Orb explodes. He-Man asks if he can use his Power Sword to act as a conduit for the Orb’s power, which the Sorceress says it’s possible but too risky. He-Man enacted on his plan anyway, and he actually pulled it off! Unfortunately his plan killed him, but he did take Skeletor with him.
This sacrifice saddened everyone in Eternia….well everyone except for Teela, who was full of rage. When He-Man was acting as the conduit for the Orb, the Power Sword split into two swords, and He-Man reverted back into Prince Adam before he died. Teela witnessed the whole thing, and she was upset that she found out that her best friend and everyone around her lied to her about He-Man’s true identity. She lashed at everyone who was mourning, and she renounced her rank in the royal guard.

A few years pass, Teela, now partnered with her new friend (or romantic partner?) Andra, works as a mercenary (not a bad profession). The two of them seem to make a living out of hunting ancient artifacts for their clients. After completing a job, they get hired by an old woman to retrieve a silver chalice from Snake Mountain, the former lair of Skeletor. They are hesitant at first, but the woman makes an offer they can’t refuse. Teela and Andra venture to Snake Mountain to discover the place has undergone a massive facelift. There is advanced tech everywhere, and a new cult, led by Tri-Klops, inhabits the mountain in the name of a technological deity called the “Motherboard”. A huge fight goes down, both Teela and Andra kick ass, and they run off with the silver chalice. They return the chalice to the old woman, they get paid, and then the old woman tells them there is one more part of the mission she needs help completing, and it involves taking the chalice to Castle Grayskull.
The three of them arrive at Castle Grayskull, and they find both the Sorceress and Cringer guarding it. The old woman reveals herself to be Evil-Lyn, and she reveals that she’s been working with the Sorceress to save Eternia. The silver chalice turned out to be Skeletor’s havoc staff, and the Sorceress needed to draw its power into the last remaining magic from the Orb of Power. Both the Sorceress and Lyn explain that when He-Man used his sword to absorb the explosion from the Orb, he merely held off Eternia’s inevitable destruction. All of Eternia was created by the magic from Preternia (Heaven) and Subternia (Hell), and the two relics that stabilized the planet’s magic were both the Orb and Sword of Power. With those relics destroyed, all the magic in Eternia is fading away, which will trigger the destruction of the planet.

Their new mission is to reforge the Power Sword and use it to recreate the Orb of Power, but this won’t be an easy task (it’ll take them three episodes to do this). Since the Power Sword was split in half, those pieces returned to their home dimensions, Preternia and Subternia. Now before they even think about going on their little treasure hunt, Teela, Andra, and Lyn have to find someone to reforge the sword, and only man had the mind and arms to do this. They set out to find Man-At-Arms, who has been banished from the kingdom because he hid Prince Adam’s secret about being He-Man. The three eventually find Man-At-Arms deep in the forest, taking care of Orko, who has been growing weaker due to Eternia’s magic fading.
Teela tries to convince Man-At-Arms to help them on their quest, but he refuses because he still feels like he’s failed his kingdom. Luckily the robot Roboto was also living with Man-At-Arms, and since his AI was created by Man-At-Arms’ memories, he volunteered to help Teela reforge the sword. Orko also volunteered to join them, which made Man-At-Arms reconsider his decision on joining them, but Teela said it would be best for him to travel to Castle Grayskull to help the Sorceress and Cringer defend it against Tri-Klops’ cult, who have been going around destroying any places of magic. Also Beast Man joined their party. They ran into him during a fight with Tri-Klops that happened earlier in the episode.
Now that everyone was rounded up, the six of them set off to Subternia to find the first half of the sword. They eventually arrived at the gates to Subternia, after dealing with Mer-Man and his goons, and they travelled down to the literal depths of Hell. Unfortunately they were all separated and sent on their own little adventures. Andra, Roboto and Beast Man were fighting zombies, Lyn and Orko were bonding while fighting a shadow demon, and Teela was busy fighting Scare Glow, who was using her greatest fears against her.
Image taken from cbr.com
Teela eventually overcomes her fears and defeats Scare Glow, taking the sword half she came for. Once Scare Glow was defeated, the six heroes were reunited, and Lyn was able to use the sword half to open a portal to Preternia. As they were all about to enter the portal, Scare Glow unleashes his final attack, but is stopped by Orko. He sacrifices himself to completely defeat Scare Glow, and with an awesome magic explosion, the remaining five get sent through the portal. Once arriving in Preternia, the five are greeted by Prince Adam (which makes sense since Preternia is Heaven), and he gives them the final half of the Power Sword. Adam takes some time to mourn Orko’s death, and then he tries to explain himself to Teela, but she’s still too angry at him to listen. Adam also introduces the group to the previous Grayskull Champions, which included the mighty King Grayskull, the first champion.
Adam accompaines Teela to meet the other champions while the rest go speak with He-Ro so they can reforge the sword. Roboto is able to reforge the Sword of Power, but he used too much of his core power to accomplish this feat, and this killed him. Back with Adam and Teela, she is still furious with him about keeping his identity of He-Man a secret, and she won’t let Adam explain himself. She also refuses to tell Adam what is happening on Eternia because she doesn’t want to burden him. This leads to Adam volunteering to travel back to Eternia with Teela and her team, but he is warned by King Grayskull that when Adam dies again he won’t be able to return to Preternia.
Image taken from theverge.com
The five of them arrive at Castle Grayskull, Adam has a small reunion with Man-At-Arms and Cringer, and he goes straight to work with restoring the Orb of Power. He says his famous line “By the power of Grayskull ”, and the magic from the sword is transferred to the Orb, completely fixing it. It looks like the heroes have saved the day, but we must remember that this season is only Part 1. Adam says “I have the-” and gets stabbed through the chest by Skeletor, who reveals that he hid his essence inside of Evil-Lyn’s wandstaff. Adam collapses, dropping the sword. Teela rushes to Adam’s aid, and Evil-Lyn and Beast Man reunite with Skeletor. Skeletor picks up the Power Sword and recites the words “By the power of Grayskull! I have the POWER!”, and transforms into Champion Skeletor, and he proclaims himself as the Master of the Universe.

Review
I did not love these episodes, nor did I hate them. The animation was awesome and all the fight scenes were epic, so I would say that I thought it was a pretty good first act. Some of my issues with the show are a little minor to some people, but I’ve been seeing that other people have been expressing the same issues I’m having. Firstly, I did not appreciate what Kevin Smith did with Teela’s character. There were times that she acted a little noble, but most of the time she was acting a pretty obnoxious. Her getting angry with Adam, even in Heaven, is a clear sign that she is not ready to grieve yet, but for fucksake I wished she let Adam explain himself.
Another issue I had was Adam dying in the first episode!!! Why the fuck would you advertise Part One as He-Man centric show and kill him off in the beginning?! I understand that his death was used to establish the plot, but there was zero indication from the trailers that Teela was going to be the main protagonist in the series. Also killing Adam again, or giving him a life threatening injury in episode 5, was a dick move.
This series has a lot of die-hard He-Man fans upset, and since I’m not a die-hard fan myself (the show was before my time), I almost can’t identify with their level of hate. Almost….
I just hope that Part 2 of Revelations is better than Part 1 because I don’t want this show to tank. With the growing popularity of the She-Ra series on Netflix, I feel like He-Man deserves a good revamped show too! If you are confused about why Masters of the Universe: Revelations is getting a lot of hate, tune into my next blog where I explain the hatred everyone has towards the new show and Kevin Smith.
*THIS CONTAINS MAJOR SPOLIERS FROM EPISODE 6 OF LOKI*

By Odin’s beard, what an amazing episode!!! It was everything that I hoped the finale would be and more! This show has officially won me over for the title of best MCU show ever made! Sorry Wanda, sorry Sam, gotta make room for my boy Loki! There is much we need to discuss, so let’s get to it.
The episode opened to Loki and Sylvie standing at the door of the fortress that appeared in the Alioth’s portal in episode 5. Both of them were trembling in anticipation (or fear) of finding the one behind everything, but before we get to that we gotta talk visuals:
Image taken from thenewsfetcher.com
The fortress stood as the nexus of all space and time, and the bright beam of light that surrounds the fortress is meant to be the timeline. This is the type of magical/cosmic stuff I want to see from MCU’s Phase 4, and after what happened in this episode, I may get my wish.
So as Loki and Sylvie were about to enter the fortress, the doors opened for them, as if they were expected to arrive. They enter the fortress, and they are met with the true mastermind behind the TVA and the Sacred Timeline:

IT WAS MISS MINUTES ALL ALONG!!!!!
JUST KIDDING!!!!
She was simply there to greet Loki and Sylvie, and to tell them that “he” has been expecting them. This “he”, or “He Who Remains” as Miss Minutes addresses him, is the one who is behind everything. She tells them that he can offer them a new spot on the Sacred Timeline if they agree to not kill him, meaning Loki would be made ruler of the universe and Sylvie would get the happy life she was robbed of, but they quickly denied that offer and marched forth to find “He Who Remains”. They didn’t look for much longer since he came to them.

The man above is “He Who Remains”, and though he never says his name out loud, diehard comic book fans know that “He Who Remains” is Kang the Conqueror. Now let me be the first to say that I was fucking right!!!! Ever since the Time Keepers were revealed to be fakes, I knew Kang was the true mastermind!!! The minute he appeared on screen I faced my brother and said “That’s fucking Kang”! I was so happy to see him because this is a clear sign that Disney is starting to incorporate Fox properties into the MCU!
Just a little reminder, Kang’s father is Nathaneil Richards, who is also the father of Reed Richards (aka Mister Fantastic).
Back at the TVA, Mobius confronts Ravonna about the TVA being a lie. He questions her about why she wants to protect the lie, and she feels that it is a necessary lie. I had a feeling she would say that because the TVA is all she knows, and she can’t handled the fact that it was all a lie. During their argument, B-15 was set free (possibly by Mobius) and travelled to the year 2018 to Franklin D. Roosevelt High School, a school whose name is on one of Ravonna’s pens that Mobius used. B-15 was making sure that she was being followed by other time agents, and she led them to find Ravonna’s “Sacred Timeline” doppelgänger. All of this was a plan to reveal to the entire TVA that they are all variants, and it was done beautifully. It makes me wonder what Mobius’ “Sacred Timeline” doppelgänger is doing. Maybe he sells jet-skis and that explains his love for jet-skis.
After the variant reveal, Ravonna makes the argument that maybe taking away free will is what keeps everyone safe. If they didn’t prune timelines, if they let people make their own decisions, it would cause chaos. Maybe she’s right, but a wise man once said that chaos is fair. After her argument is made, Mobius tries to take her down, but fails in doing so. Ravonna spares him, and leaves through a time portal saying she’s “In search of free will”. Not sure what that means, but I do have a feeling that we have not seen that last of her.

Back at the nexus of time, Kang reveals how he came to be the mediator of the timeline. He says one of his variants from the 31st century (little reference to his comic book origin) discovers the existence of parallel universes, and the means to travel between them. Soon his other variants started to travel to different Earths as well, and things went along pretty well. The Kang variants shared their tech and knowledge with each other to help improve each other’s universe, which is very similar to the actions of the Council of Reed Richards from the comics (Reeds from different universes), but there were some Kang variants who wanted to conquer other universes. He tells Loki and Sylvie that this lead to a Multiverse War, and many worlds were destroyed in this battle, so the variant of Kang in the episode said that he had to assume absolute control of the multiverse. He destroyed every other universe, and isolated his timeline as the “Sacred Timeline”, and he’s been preventing the restoration of the multiverse ever since.
Kang is telling Loki and Sylvie all this because he wants them to justify his reason for creating the TVA. He admits to being a villian, he calls out Loki for doing unspeakable things for selfish reasons, and he calls out Sylvie for being a hypocrite since she won’t admit that she had to act as a villain to stay alive. After Kang’s rant about Loki and Sylvie being villians, he offers them a deal that could change the fabric of the MCU, forever.
Option 1: Loki and Sylvie kill Kang, free the timeline and create the multiverse. If they kill him, they run the risk of starting another Multiverse War.
Option 2: Loki and Sylvie spare Kang, and they assume control over the TVA. The Sacred Timeline is kept, but they can rule it however they want.
Kang doesn’t care if he dies because if he does, other versions of him will just take his place. In a fit of rage, Sylvie goes for the kill, but Loki stops her. Sylvie thinks that Loki just wants to save Kang so he can rule everything, his goal in Avengers, but that’s not the case. Loki believes that Kang is telling him the truth that killing him will cause a Multiverse War, and he doesn’t want to plunge the multiverse into chaos. Sylvie doesn’t believe him, and Loki can’t blame her since he knows that he can’ be trusted and the she can’t trust anyone. They both have a small fight, but Loki eventually throws down his weapon and pleads with her to not kill him. He admits that Kang could be lying, but that is not a risk he is willing to take. Loki says he doesn’t want a throne, and the only thing he cares about is her saftey.

This leads to them kissing, with Kang gleefully looking at them like most of us who are watching, but that feeling of happiness quickly ends when Sylvie uses Kang’s TemPad to send Loki back to the TVA. With Loki gone, Sylvie kills Kang. During this whole confrontation with the three of them, the timestream that surrounded the fortress has been branching out to form new timelines, new universes, and it speeds up after Kang’s death. Back at the TVA, Loki has a little freakout about what just happened, but he quickly gets a hold of himself and looks for Mobius. He finds both Mobius and B-15 in the Archive Wing, and he tell Mobius that Sylvie and himself have made a huge mistake and tries to tell him about Kang. Mobius tries to calm him down, but then he asked Loki was division he’s from….
Image taken from collider.com
Mobius thinks Loki is just some other TVA Agent, he has no memory of the god of mischief. Mobius and B-15 leave quickly after that to go handle a situation involving 63 new branches being created, and Loki looks over the balcony of the Archive Wing. As he is looking around, he finds to his horror a statue of Kang in a spot previously reserved for the Time Keepers’ statues. A new Kang variant leads the TVA, and no one remembers Loki. I believe that Loki might have been sent to a different universe, or that this Kang variant altered the TVA’s history to make himself the ruler. All I know for sure is that the MCU has officially joined the Marvel Multiverse, and this changes everything.

Now we see how important Loki is as a show since what he did here is going to affect everyone. Spider-Man: No Way Home already casted villians who have confirmed to be from alternate univereses, so we can expect to see a logical reason for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man to join the Spider-verse. This could also lead to Sony’s Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse entering the MCU, aswell as Venom and Morbius the Living Vampire. The same could be said about Fox propteries such as the X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Deadpool. Deadpool already had a little sit down with MCU Korg, so Deadpool teaming up with Spider-Man and/or the Avengers on the big screen is only a matter of time.

The actions of Loki and Wanda (her shenanigans from WandaVision) will all lead into Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which will possibly give us a more thorough tour of the multiverse. I feel so bad for Doctor Strange because he has to fix this whole fucking mess, and he’s defineltly going to be needing a few drinks when he’s all done.
Now let’s talk about the big picture for Phase 4. We know that this phase will involve more cosmic level threats, but who could be the big bad be this time? I think it might be Kang, or a Kang since “He Who Remains” Kang says that his variants are incredibly dangerous. Also with the rebirth of the multiverse we might be seeing long dead villians make their returns, aswell as some dead heroes. The possibilities are endless, but I feel that it will all build up one impossible event.

The Secret Wars! Kang spoke of a Multiverse War involving his variants, but this war will involve everyone’s doppelgängers! The gauntlet to see which universe will be the last one standing, a battle no one truly wins…
The next show to drop onto Disney+ is Marvel’s What If, where we will be exploring different universes answering the question “What if?”. I do have high hopes for this show, and I have a feeling that this show will act as a tease for what we could expect to see for the future of the MCU.
Image taken from comicbook.com
And speaking of the future, Loki has been confirmed for season 2 in the post-credits. This season was very enjoyable, but it did have its flaws. Most of the stuff that happened was pretty predictable, but this is coming from a comic book fan and I saw that about most superhero movies. Also some people did complain about Loki getting beaten up by normal people and making dumb decisions, but I think he’s doing this all on purpose because he’s playing the long con. Loki is many things, but above everything else he is a trickster. He’s planning something big, but I can’t figure out what it is. I guess only time will tell.
Well I hope you all enjoyed yourselves, and I will see you all in the next blog.
*THE BLOG BELOW CONTAINS SPOILERS FROM LOKI EPISODE 5*

This whole episode was purely fanservice for the comic fans, and I fucking loved it! There were many cool easter eggs to be found during the episode such as the infamous Thanoscopter, Throg the frog of thunder, and a few others. Check out this article to see the full list of easter eggs: https://collider.com/loki-episode-5-easter-eggs-mcu-explained/

And we also had apperances from new Loki Variants, as seen below:
Image taken from marvel.com
I did expect to see more Lokis in the Wasteland (which turned out to be the end of time), but I was not expecting to see another Tom Hiddleston Loki there. I remember seeing a “President Loki ” in the trailers, but I just thought it was just our Loki causing more chaos across the timeline. It was cool seeing our Loki react to President Loki acting like an arrogant dickhead, and just seeing him embarrassed. It felt very relatable since I am equally as embarrassed when I’m forced to watch old home videos of myself as a kid. It also reminded me of Endgame when Bruce was embarrassed by his younger self when he traveled back to 2012.
Along with the introduction of those new Lokis, we got a more formal introduction to the variants who appeared during the end credits scene from episode 4.
Image taken from marvel.com
We got to meet Boastful Loki (left), Kid Loki (middle), and Old/Classic Loki (right), who are grew to be very interesting….well except for Boastful Loki since he betrayed our Loki to help President Loki. Kid Loki was adorable until he told Loki his nexus event was, which was murdering Thor (it made me think back to the snake story in Thor Ragnarok). That shit escualted quickly as fuck! Ofcourse we had Alligator Loki make more of an impact, him taking a big bite out of President Loki, literally!
But I will say that the Loki who stole the show was Old Loki. This Loki described himself as being from the future, from a timeline where he actually survived Infinity War. He said he was able to create a tangible projection, and used it to trick Thanos into thinking he killed him, but Old Loki escaped to an isolated planet to live alone. He was caught by the TVA when he tried to leave the planet, and then got sent to the Wasteland. Throughout the whole episode he felt like himself and all Lokis were complete jokes. It wasn’t until he was inspired by our Loki, Sylvie, and Mobius (yes he’s okay) to rebel against that stereotype, and achieve his glorious purpose.
Back at the TVA, Ravonna is still coming to terms with the truth behind the TVA. Instead of wanting to rebel against the TVA, which is what Mobius aims to do, she wants to find the creator of the TVA and protect them from Loki and Sylvie. I can understand why she would want to protect the lie. The TVA is all she has ever known, the only stable constant in her life, the one thing she can always count on. She already feels betrayed by Mobius, her closest friend, but she can’t handle her work/home imploding. It upsets me because she had a life before the TVA, but that one in charge, the one she is trying to protect, took that from her!
Image taken from collider.com
Back in the Wasteland, the Lokis come up with a plan to find the creator of the TVA. Sylvie figures out that the monster who looms over the Wasteland, the Alioth, is guarding the location of the creator. With help from Old Loki, a noble sacrifice that was cinematically stunning, both Sylvie and Loki were able to enchant the Alioth into opening a portal to the creator’s location, which is the fortress in the image above.
The episode ends with the two of them walking to the portal in hopes of finding the true mastermind and putting a stop to their rule over the timeline. I still say that the one behind the TVA is Kang the Conquerer, but I guess we won’t know until the finale
This episode was by far the best one in the series. Richard E. Grant’s portrayl of Old Loki was fucking spectacular, our Loki’s character development is going great, and I am in love with Sophia Di Martino performance of Sylvie. Some people complain about the romance between Loki and Sylvie, saying that it’s unnecessary for the show. As much as I respect those opinions, I find them fucking horrendous. The whole point of Loki and Sylvie’s relationship is to act as a metaphor for Loki learning to love himself, and vice versa for Sylvie. The Sacred Timeline decreed Lokis to be the villians who hates everyone, including themselves, but this episode showed how powerful they can be if they embraced who they really are instead of embracing what others think of them.
Maybe we all can learn a lesson or two from the Lokis. If we stop giving a crap about what others think about us and learn to love ourselves, we can grow more powerful than we ever thought to be possible.
I can’t wait to see how this whole adventure ends, and to all my loyal fans, tune in see my thoughts on the Loki finale!
*THIS BLOG CONTAINS SPOILERS OF LOKI EPISODE 3&4! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!*
Taken from decider.com
I was a little busy this past week, so to make up for not writing a blog about episode three, I’ve decieded to do a “super-sized” session.
These last two episodes were pretty damn insane. Episode three offered us a glimpse into the kind of person Sylvie, and she is not a particularly “evil” person. Much like our Loki, Sylvie seems to be a victim of being manipulated by a much higher power. Loki was lied to about his heritage, shunned by his people, and was basically pushed to do evil deeds in order to seen and heard. Sylvie on the other hand was snacthed away from her home by the TVA when she was a fucking child, and was forced to go on the run from them. Why was Sylvie arrested by the TVA, no one knows for sure, but some theories state that her “crime” was that she didn’t want to cause any mischief. She wanted to live a life of being morally good, but according to the “Sacred Timeline”, all Lokis are meant to be villains.
Along with learning about the cruel life of Sylvie, she drops a major plot twist by revealing to Loki that all the TVA agents are variants. Mobius, B-15, all of them had real lives back in the timeline, but it seems that they have all been brainwashed into thinking they were created by the Timekeepers, who are a biggest lie in the TVA!
Both Loki and Sylvie were “Wizard of Oz-ed” and found out that the Timekeepers, the creators of the “Sacred Timeline”, are a bunch of fakes! Fucking robots!!!
Now since the Timekeepers were just robots, who is really in charge of the TVA? Who made themselves in charge of deciding the flow of time? Only one suspect comes to mind:
Taken from nerdist.com
Kang the fucking Conquerer!
For those who don’t know, Kang the Conquerer (aka Nathaniel Richards) is from the 30th century, and he is a descendent of Reed Richards. He is villian who has set out to conquer all of time itself, and he has been defeated numerous times by the Avengers and Fantastic Four. Kang’s main gimmick is his ability to time travel, which seems to act as a form of plot armor for his evil deeds, such as altering the timeline. Though as more retcons and reboots are being added to the comics, the origins and nature of Kang keep altering, but somehow he always remains dead set on taking over the timeline, no matter what universe he’s in.
The reason why Kang should be considered as the prime suspect for being the mastermind behind the TVA is because he’s the only character within the Marvel Multiverse who is smart enough to pull off something like that. Also Kang has already been casted into the new Antman movie, so it’s not that far of a stretch for him to also appear in an episode of Loki. Maybe he’s not the mastermind behind the TVA, but I have a feeling he’s involved in this somehow.
Now in other Loki news, Loki seems to have the hots from Sylvie, and it has people upset, happy, and weirded out. Let’s be real here, Loki falling in love with a variant of himself is not the weirdest relationship he’s had. He did have sex with a horse in Norse mythology, so him wanting to “screw himself” (or themselves?) is a little predictable for him. In DC comics, John Constantine made out with his Earth 2 doppelganger. Also Deadpool and Lady Deadpool(his female doppelganger) kissed once, but they both found it very weird. The point is, characters falling for their doppelgangers is standard comic book protocol.
Taken from polygon.com
Speaking of doppelgangers, that end-credit scene in episode four with Loki meeting his other variants was mind blowing! First, we find out that when variants get “pruned” from the timeline, they all get sent to another dimension. Second, if Loki found three other Lokis in that “Variant Wasteland”, who knows how many other Lokis are there, or if there are any variants of other characters there (I would love to see Loki meet a Thor variant there)!
This damn show continues to be amazing, and I’ll even say that this show is even better than some of the MCU movies. I am really excited to see what happens in episode five tomorrow, and tune in here to see what I think!
