Blog 29: The Pursuit of Peace

*WARNING: THIS BLOG CONTAINS SPOILERS FROM PEACEMAKER ON HBO MAX*

image taken from marca.com

This show was something else entirely. I did not expect a show about the man who killed Rick Flag to be so awesome, let alone actually liking that man. Peacemaker is a spin-off series of James Gunn’s The Suidide Squad that stars the villain Peacemaker and a new rag-tag gang of misfits to take on an alien invasion in his hometown.

Written by the eccentric mind of James Gunn, this show was able to transform Peacemaker from a one-dimensional badass antagonist into a three-dimensional beast of a protagonist, and I applaud John Cena for truly proving himself to be a great actor.

The Plot

image taken from imdb.com

The story was pretty easy to follow from the start with your standard “alien invasion prevention” arc, but the sub-plots are what gave this show it’s groove. Although there was no real Task Force X dispatched, Peacemaker was still being forced by Amanda Waller to her dirty work since he still has the bomb in his neck from The Suicide Squad, and unfortunately he was stuck working with two government agents and two “IT” US agents (not really the best team to fight-off aliens). Thankfully, another villain/antihero is introduced, Vigilante, and he just so happens to be Peacemaker’s BFF (at least that’s what Vigilante thinks). Another issue amongst the team is that one of their members, Adebayo, is Amanda Waller’s daughter (which she was keeping a secret for the whole season), was tasked to plant fake evidence in Peacemakers trailer home to pin all the craziness of an alien invasion on him.

Pinning the mission chaos on Peacemaker would have been easy since the aliens, called Butterflies, burrow themselves inside people’s brains and controls them. It should also be noted that most of the Butterflies possess the bodies of politicians and other important citizens, which is why publicly blaming Peacemaker for their deaths would be logical since people think he’s political terrorist (which is a little true).

We also learned more about Peacemaker’s family and backstory, which can be summeraised by saying that his abusive dad is the “White Dragon”, aka the leader of the KKK…..I had no idea that they existed in DC Comics……

image taken from pledgetimes.com

It was also revealed that Peacemaker had a brother, who he accidentally killed in a fight when they were kids. So that explains a lot for why Peacemaker is fucked-up and ironically he doesn’t seem like that bad of guy when compared to his dad. Despite the fact that Peacemaker’s father taught him everything he knows, he does NOT share the racist ideals his father preaches to his cult (thank God for that). Peacemaker does have a fight with his father later in the season, and it ends with Peacemaker killing him.

It was one of the hardest things he had to do in this season, and it took a toll on him since during the last episode he sees his dad’s ghost taunting him, which is a reference to his comic variant having hallucinations of his dead father. Another hard choice he made was technically commiting alien genocide. The final episode was a huge battle with Peacemaker’s group vs the Butterflies at their home base where they stashed their food supply, an alien cow that produced a nectar they eat in order to live.

Peacemaker was at a crossroads. He knew that the Butterflies wanted to rule the world, but he was able to make peace with their leader earlier in the season, and she pleaded her case that her race and the humans are on the brink of extinction. Her plan was for her kind to assume control of the world leaders to steer the humans to safety, which is a nicer way of saying world domination, and Peacemaker chose to basically kill an entire alien race and damning the humans.

image taken from comicbook.com

After the mission was done, Adebayo asked Peacemaker why he chose to kill the cow, even after everything the Butterfly leader told him. Peacemaker just said it was because he knew that the Butterflies would hurt her and the rest of his friends if he helped them.

Final Thoughts

This show gave me a new understanding to Peacemaker’s character. He admitted that he never wanted to kill Rick Flag, started to care about the people around him, he started to make his own choices, and he even contemplates on if he wants to stop killing people or not. James Gunn was able to give depth and popularity to essentially a C-list supervillain, bumping him up to an A-lister character, and gave us a new view of the DCEU (something 2017’s Justice League failed to do).

The show has already been greenlit for season 2, and I can’t wait to see what James Gunn has in-store for Peacemaker. There is also talk of Gunn making another series with a different charcter from the Suicide Squad (hopefully King Shark or Bloodsport), so I’m looking forward to that aswell.

Peacemaker is a must watch for HBO Max users (or for you devious stream pirates out there), and it restores a little hope for the DCEU. Now we just have to hope that The Batman movie is a hit. Anyway, that’s all I have for you today. This is your friendly neighborhood saying good-bye, and see you next time.

Blog 28: The Embarrassing Downfall of a Revival

image taken from complex.com

Social media never fails to amuse and disgust me with it’s utter stupidity! If you don’t know by now the old cable channel G4, which I held to high regard for being one of the greatest channels to exist because it’s all about tech and video games, has been trying to get itself back into the mainstream with their YouTube channel “G4TV”. Apparently this channel has been around since 2006 (one of the golden years of YouTube), but they have recently gathered more attention because of a little meltdown one their hosts had on their secondary channel X-Play. Here’s the clip to of Froskurinn’s rant about the treatment of women in gaming: https://youtu.be/ps12AWRbqpE

The gist of her rant is that she is addressing the “sexism in video games” by calling out people who comment that she is not as hot or “bangable” as the previous female hosts. She also goes on to say some weird crap about accussing men of objectifying women by saying that they are attractive, and she basically told the entire audience to go fuck themselves.

gif taken from giphy.com

First of all, the people calling her “unbangable” are just your average internet trolls, everyone has them! Secondly, finding someone attractive is not objectification, that’s basic laws of sexual attraction! Finally, you shouldn’t be calling most of your audience a bunch of sexist assholes, that’s a sure-fire way to turn the show you host into a joke. Also can we talk about how she admits that the hosts of a “VIDEO GAME SHOW”, who claim to be gamers, don’t even write their own gaming reviews? This makes them look like a bunch of posers who are just using the gaming platform to preach their political ideologies.

You also have another host like Adam “Idiot” Sessler tweeting some of dumbest things I’ve seen on Twitter so far:

I may assume that Sessler hates republicans, but to go so far and say the republicans in your family can eat shit and die? No person with a functioning brain cell would tweet something so horrendous, and what’s worse is that I think he’s only saying this to appease the Twitter Puritans! Why do people like them think it is a good idea to insult the majority of their audience, especially when they’re a representative for a platform that promotes diversity and peace within the gaming community. Also having Frosk say “Don’t like it, don’t watch it” during her rant is an easy way to lose your fanbase (this echoes Kelly Sue DeConnick’s “If you don’t like my politics, don’t buy my book”). I don’t like how they talk about politics instead of video games, and clearly that means I’m not welcomed to their shows, so I will be doing my best to stay away from their channels.

gif taken from giphy.com

These two people have basically diminished G4’s reputation in the gaming community, and if you’re interested in learning the statistics of their viewership/subscriptions, check out YellowFlash’s video: https://youtu.be/vNCMSgNQuL0

Is this mess that G4TV caused going to fade away from the mainstream? Probably yes. Will their reputation heal? Chances of that are pretty slim. All I know is that G4TV messed up when they tried to promote the rant on Twitter and employ Twitter Puritan morons to host their show. What G4 is doing is the exact same thing Marvel is doing with their comic books; trying to appease the masses on Twitter. Going “woke” is never a smart business strategy for entertainment outlets, especially when they are purposely trying to alienate themselves from their audience.

It’s an utter disgrace to see something I loved become corrupted by today’s hypocrisy. Anyway that’s all I have for you today, be sure to like and comment down below your thoughts and opinions on this whole dilemma. Also be sure to follow my new Instagram channel “chimichangabard” on Instagram, I will devoting my blog updates and art posts to that profile. This is your friendly neighborhood Poolguy saying good-bye, and until next time.

Blog 27: Heavy Metal Guardians

*This blog contains spoilers from the Guardians of the Galaxy video game!!*

image taken from syfy.com

I don’t do a lot of video game reviews, but this game was so great that it deserves one. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy game, developed by SQUARE ENIX (the same people who made the crappy Avengers game), was such a fun experience. This single-player action/adventure video game is the first game I’ve played/completed on my PS5, and I am so lucky that I was able to take part in something so epic. Thank goodness that I knew nothing about the game before I started playing it.

The Characters

image taken from polygon.com

Despite the fact that this game has the full Guardians team by the first level, you can only play as Star-Lord, the team’s leader. I found it a little weird at first, but I suddenly learned that you can actually command the other Guardians to perform attacks on enemies and to help solve puzzles. This was an intriguing developer move since it prompted me to start developing different strategies and trulyplacing the player in the role of the leader. This gets more exciting when you understand that each team member has a specific role to play.

  • Gamora, Deadliest Woman in the Galaxy: Formely the adopted daughter of Thanos, she is the newest member to the team. She’s an assassin that makes very swift attacks with her sword. Her attack commands are quick and rely on close-combat.
  • Drax, the Destoryer: A true galactic warrior who fights with honor and brutality. He’s like a tank when he charges into battle. His attack commands rely on him dealing heavy damage to groups of enemies with his sheer strength and daggers.
  • Rocket, definitely not a Racoon: A tech genius with a whole lot of angry sarcasm. He likes to do damage from afar with his trusty laser cannon and bombs. His attack command mainly involves grenades that can deal splash damage to groups of enemies, and can pull enemies together for the team to surround them.
  • Groot, a reliable tree: He may be the last of his kind, but that never stopped his optimism. His plant manipulation powers allow him to take over the whole battlefield, and to provide support for his teammates. His attack commands focus on crowd control by using his vines to trap enemies in their place, and said vines can become spikes that throw enemies into the air.
  • Star-Lord (aka Peter Quill), the human leader: He’s not the strongest person on the team, but he is the glue that holds them together. All of his attacks are a mix of shooting his element blasters, flying with his rocket boots, punching the crap out of aliens, and commanding the team on how to fight.

Not only are the combat mechanics astonishing, but this paticular version of the Guardians might be better than their MCU counterparts. Star-Lord actually makes an effort to make the team work together, Gamora progessively opens-up about her past over the course of the game, Drax is both funny and wise (unlike the simple minded one we get in the movies), Rocket is crankier and more empathetic than his MCU counterpart, and Groot is more vocal in the game than he was in the movies (which says a lot given his limited vocabulary). The team starts off a little rigid and annoyed with each other, but they slowly become more of a dysfunctional and loving family towards the end of the game, which again is something we never really got from the movies. Everyone is funny and little quirky, but they all get serious when things start to get intense.

image taken from cbr.com

Hell, even videogame Mantis is taken more seriously than her MCU counterpart. She still has that goofy and strange personality, but she plays a critical role in helping the Guardians within the final levels. The game also took the time to expand on her psychic abilities by also granting her the ability to see other timelines, which does baffle and unnerve the Guardians during one level where she is guiding them through a mystical and deadly cave to help free Drax from being brainwashed by an evil cult.

The Story

image taken from gamesradar.com

Speaking of am evil cult, they are the main enemies for this game. A group of people called “The Universal Church of Truth” (UCT) are slowly brainwashing the entire galaxy by using the soul stone (yes, the infinity stone) to trap their minds in a fantasy world while their souls are being sucked out of them. This whole mess started when the Guardians were hunting down a monster bounty in the “Quarantine Zone” (a sectioned off battlefield from a great Galactic War), and got busted by Nova Corp. As the Guardians were on a Nova battleship getting arrested, an explosion is set off by the UCT, and the team gets seperated. Star-Lord did save a young Nova girl, Nikki, from certain doom. He later finds out that her mom is the captain of the battleship, which complicates things because Star-Lord had a pretty intimate relationship with the ship’s captain, Ko-Rel, a long time ago. It’s implied here that Nikki might actually be his daughter since he hasn’t been with Ko-Rel for 12 years, and Nikki is 12 years old.

Fast Forward through an awkward reunion between Quill and Ko-Rel, the Guardians get fined and have to figure out how to raise the money to pay it off. I won’t go into detail about how they plan to do this because the game prompts you to make choices that will alter certain events in the game, so I’ll just skip to the part where they made enough money to pay their fee. They fly to a Nova checkpoint to find it almost abandoned, and they discover that UCT has taken over Nova Corp by using Nikki as the new host for the soul stone, turning her into their new god “The Matriarch”.

The rest of the game is about traveling to different planets to seek help to battle the UCT, and the final level battle all hinges on the decisions and actions you make throughout the game. The final level consists of an epic final battle with the UCT, and the difficulty of that battle depends on how your decisions affected the chances of you getting help or not, but even if the odds are stacked against you, you’ll triumph over evil because that’s what heroes do!!!

The game ends on a happy note with the Guardians saving the galaxy, and the ending is open to a possible sequel game, which I hope comes to fruition.

Final Thoughts

image taken from forbes.com

I can happily say that I can add this game into my list of all-time favorite games, and I don’t care who knows it. The fighting, the story, and the writing are all exceptional. The game’s soundtrack is like a chef’s kiss to this almost perfect game. This soundtrack, dare I say, is better than the Awesome Mix Vol 1 and 2 because it consists of classic eighties rock and metal. Hell, this game even has a fake metal band called “Star-Lord” that plays absolute bangers(the band is the reason Peter calls himself Star-Lord)!! All the songs are bangers, and this game should have gotten the “Game of the Year” Award just for having this song play during a fight. Check out this clips: https://youtu.be/HjyEEwlgx9c

I give this game a 9.5/10 only because there are a few dialog glitches in the game, but other than that the game is awesome. If you’re looking for something new to play that involves your favorite intergalactic heroes, you should give Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy a try.

That’s all I have for you today, I hope you all enjoyed my first video game review. This is your friendly neighborhood cosplayer saying goodbye, and until next time.

Blog 26: Spectacular Cinema

*THIS CONTAINS SPOILERS FROM SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME!!!*

image taken from nbcmontana.com

I recall saying that Zac Synder’s Justice League was “magical”, and now I find myself giving Spider-Man: No Way Home the same kind of review. The movie was the pinnacle of Spider-Man movies, from great storytelling full of dangerous consequences to amazing character arcs, Jon Watts created a masterpiece of cinema. Let’s go over it, shall we?

The Plot

image taken from menshealth.com

The story picks up immediately after Spider-Man: Far From Home when Mysterio pulled the pettiest move in history and reveal Spider-Man’s identity. This is the start to a series of unfortunate events that throws the lives of Peter, MJ, and Ned into a tailspin, and the timing could not be any worse because it was college admissions. Peter was rejected by all of his college choices because he’s both Spider-Man and a suspected murderer/terroist, but what’s worse is that MJ and Ned were rejected because of their relationships with Peter. Ridden with guilt, Peter decided to seek aid from Doctor Strange, asking him if there is a way to make the world forget that Peter Parker is Spider-Man, and Strange reluctantly agrees to help. Unfortunately Peter messed with the spell, and Strange was forced to conceal its power, but this failed spell caused a few rifts within the multiverse that caused Spider-Man villains from other universes to appear in the MCU.

Since we can’t have villains from other universes causing mayhem, Doctor Strange enlisted Spider-Man’s help in capturing the five villains; Green Goblin, Doc Octopus, Sandman, The Lizard, and Electro(each one from their respected movies). Spidey captures these villains, but he soon learns from the villains that most of them are supposed to be dead, which leads Strange to believe that they all die during their battles with Spider-Man, and he states that they must be returned back to their worlds to preserve the balance within the multiverse. Peter did not accept Strange’s plan, which forces him to stand up for the villains, pleading to Strange that they should cure the villains of their trauma before sending them home, but Strange just wasn’t having it. This caused the two of them to have an epic fight in the mirror dimension, which lead to Spider-Man winning and trapping Strange in that dimension.

He uses that time to help rehabilitate the villains the best he can, and his best course of action is to cure them of the very thing that made them all unstable in the first place, their powers. With the help of some Stark tech, he was able to fix Doc Ock’s AI problem and cure him of his psychosis caused by the metal arms. Octavias, and a temporarily sane Norman Osborn, help Peter cure the rest of the villains, but this is short-lived when Peter’s spider sense detects that Norman has been plotting to kill him. A huge fight breaks out, and all the villains, except Goblin, escape from Peter. Peter and Green Goblin have a brutal showdown, and Peter fights with an intensity that has never been displayed in any of his other movies. The fight takes a dark turn when Goblin kills Aunt May during his escape. He leaves Peter bloody and broken…..

With Peter alone, Ned and MJ find out through the news what happened. After Peter’s fight with Strange, he took both the contained mind-wipe spell that caused this mess and Strange’s portal ring, and left them with Ned and MJ. MJ is tempted to activate the spell, but Ned talks her out of it saying they need to wait for Peter. As Ned is in distress wondering where Peter is, a flicker from a portal appears. This happens because Ned is holding Strange’s ring, and he surprises himself and MJ with the discovery of his magical powers. He uses the ring to create a portal to find Peter, which works, just not the way they wanted. A portal opens to Spider-Man, but the Spider-Man who walks through is Andrew Garfield. He explains that his name is Peter Parker, and he’s been stuck in this world for a day. MJ tells Ned to try to open another portal to find their Peter, but he unintentionally opens a portal to summon Tobey Maguire Peter Parker, who has been looking for Tom Holland Peter, same goes for Andrew Peter.

Ned and MJ take the two Peters to find their Peter, and when they find him, the Peters share a small heart-to-heart moment to console Tom Peter. The Peters agree to help Peter cure the villains, and this leads to possibly the coolest final battle sequences to be in a superhero movie. The Spider-Men fought together to cure most of the villains, but they couldn’t stop Green Goblin from destroying the concealed spell that was supposed to send everyone home. Luckily Doctor Strange returned, through unintentional help from Ned, and he tries his best to conceal the GIANT rifts in the universe that were the product of the destroyed spell. Tom Peter had a final fight with Green Goblin, which almost ended with Tom Peter killing Goblin if it wasn’t for Tobey Peter stopping him. Tom Peter cured Goblin, and the fight was over. Despite all this, Strange could not stop the universes from colliding, until Tom Peter asked if he could cast the original spell again, but this time to make the world forget about Peter Parker completely. Strange said it could work, but he didn’t want to do it, but Peter reassured him that he was ok with it.

Tom Peter said his good-byes to Tobey Peter and Andrew Peter, and he said good-bye to Ned and MJ with a heavy heart. Peter promised them both that he will help them remember who his is again. Strange casts the spell, everyone is sent back home, no one remembers Spider-Man’s secret identity, but nobody remembers Peter Parker. Peter starts his life over on a blank slate, and when he sees MJ and Ned again, he chooses not to reveal that he’s Spider-Man. The movie ends with him in his own apartment in the city, his police scanner detects crime in the area, and he swings into action as your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.

My Thoughts

image taken from denofgeek.com

This movie did not feel like a typical MCU movie, and I fucking love that! It seems that Sony had more creative control for this movie since the plot format felt more in-line with the Sam Raimi Trilogy and the Marc Webb movies, and this is honestly the reason why No Way Home is the best movie out of the Jon Watts Trilogy. In most MCU movies, the horrible deeds villains do have no lingering consequences, which really downplays the danger factor within the story, but this movie had bad things happen because of Peter’s decisions, and they all couldn’t be fixed.

The whole plot revolved around Peter trying to fix his mistakes and get back to the way things were, but things just kept getting worse and he started to reach his breaking point, which is why it was a good move to add Tobey and Andrew into the story. They both have years of experience being Spider-Man, and they both know about the hardships it brings, especially Tobey since he learned how to finally reach a balance after his three movies, whereas Andrew was still struggling to accept the death of Gwen Stacy in Amazing Spider-Man 2.

One of the themes this plot revolved around was second chances, which was enforced by Andrew Garfield Spider-Man because after the emotional support offered to him by Tobey, and him saving MJ (which was his redemption for not saving Gwen), he seems to finally learn that he can move on and be the hero he was meant to be. Also Doc Ock found his redemption when his AI problem was solved, giving him the chance to help the Spider-Men during the final battle.

Finally, this movie taught us the most important lesson about being Spider-Man:

With great power comes great responsibility

The line is finally stated in this movie as Aunt May’s final words, and this doesn’t resonate with Peter until the end of the movie when realizes that he has to make the world forget about him in order to save it. The greatest burden of Spider-Man are the sacrifices he has to make for the greater good, and for him it was losing everything and starting over. He lost his best friend and the love of his life, and he could have easily reminded both of them about who he is to them, but he felt that he shouldn’t. The whole mess started because he was too careless about revealing his identity to others, and he felt that the best way to keep the people he loves safe was to let them go. The perfect ending to a spectacular Spider-Man film.

Spider-Man: No Way Home was a better movie than Avengers: Endgame by 3000%, and I don’t care if you think I’m crazy for saying that, it was just that good. This is a movie that used nostalgia correctly, unlike The Matrix Resurrections that was just a mere cash-grab. The past was able to guide the future, and at the same time the best was honored. I give Spider-Man: No Way Home a 10/10, and I believe that is my first 10/10 review. I can’t wait for this movie to come out on blu-ray because I’m going to rewatch the shit out of it!

Let’s all hope that this movie was a sign of good things to come for the MCU’s Phase 4, with the next movie being Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness, directed by Sam Raimi. This Spider-Man movie was a successful attempt for a live-action multiverse movie, so let’s all hope that the new Doctor Strange movie can be a good follow-up.

That’s all I have for now, be sure to go see Spider-Man: No Way Home as soon as possible, and don’t be an asshole by spoiling the movie. This is your friendly neighborhood Deadpool, signing off.

Blog 25: A Failed Resurrection?

*THIS CONTAINS SPOILERS FROM THE MATRIX: RESURRECTIONS*

image taken from ign.com

Like most people who grew up on sci-fi movies, we can all acknowledge the level of epicness The Matrix holds whenever it’s mentioned. With that being said, I was one of the people who were excited to hear that there was going to be a sequel to this mind-bending trilogy, and like most fans who watched The Matrix: Resurrections, I was left with a weird feeling of contempt. Many people have decreed this movie as a dumpster fire and it should be erased from existence (sounds like a job for Thanos), but I don’t think the movie was really THAT bad. This movie had a LOT of issues, but there was some silver lining to it. Let me explain….

The Plot

gif taken from tenor.com

The plot felt very reminiscent of the first Matrix film, hell the first 15 minutes was a direct callback to the famous Trinity introduction. The whole gist of it is that Neo is still alive after the end of The Matrix: Revolutions, but he was reinserted into the Matrix with a new life as a video game developer, who is famous for creating a game trilogy called “The Matrix”, which he unknowingly based off his life. Neo also believes that his flashbacks to his old life are actually episodes of a psychotic break, as noted by his therapist, and he is prescribed pills, which are blue, to take the edge off. He eventually meets the new Morpheus and the human resistance, and they are able to free him from the Matrix once again, just with one minor problem. Trinity is alive, and she was also reinserted back into the Matrix.

The rest of the movie was mainly about Neo and his new batch of friends trying to help him save Trinity because he loves her, and apparently she holds a lot of power within the Matrix, which is the reason why both Neo and Trinity were “resurrected”by the machines. Just like how the Matrix trilogy had “The Architect” controlling everything going on inside the digital world, this new version of The Matrix was controlled by a program called “The Analyst”, who just so happens to be Neo’s therapist. He explained that source code that Neo has within him is what creates stability in the Matrix, but the code grows more powerful when Trinity’s code is factored in. Simply put, their desire to be reunited with each other fills the entire Matrix with dread, and more dread equals more power created by the people trapped inside.

One intense final fight scene later, Trinity is freed from the Matrix, and it is revealed that she now has the same “Chosen One” abilities Neo has. They both confront The Analyst together, threatening him that they will stop him and shut down his Matrix by giving people hope, and they both literally fly off into the sunset. The whole scene was meant to act as a build-up to the next movie, but that may not happen judging by the box office and fan reactions.

Overall this movie felt like a generic action-flick that tried too hard to have meta-commentary. I would give the movie a 5/10 because I enjoyed both Keanu’s and Carrie’s performances as Neo and Trinity, and I liked three new ideas that this movie introduced.

Agent Morpheus

gif taken from buzzfeed.com

I’m happy that the new Morpheus was established as his own character apart from Lawrence Fishburn’s Morpheus, and what made new Morpheus interesting is that he was an “Agent”. The original Morpheus died in the video game The Matrix Online, but Neo, as game dev Mr. Anderson, resurrected him as a program for a little modal experiment. I’m pretty sure this was meant to symbolize Neo’s unconscious desire to break free from the Matrix after he was reinserted. What made things a little confusing for a moment was that in the modal, Morpheus was reffered to by the other agents as “Agent Smith”. One could interpret this as Neo associating the two indivduals as major opposing influences on his life throughtout the movies, but unfortunatley that is forgotten about shortly after Morpheus is freed.

Actually, the whole thing about Morpheus being an agent is thrown out the window. It would have been interesting to see Morpheus fight with “agent abilities”, such as the super-speed dodging and the “agent assmulation” move.

gift taken from tenor.com

Also we don’t see a lot of traditional agents in this movie, but rather we see upgraded models of them.

Bots

image taken from kakuchopurei.com

The new agents are called “Bots”, and the idea here is that the Matrix can now make agents look like ordinary people that can instantly become combat-crazy zombies when human freedom fighters are found. I found this both intriguing and hilarious because bots are an actual issue on social media when they masquerade as a person’s followers, or when they disguise themselves as profiles to promote brand labels on social media and DM people ads. The idea of agents hiding amongst a normal crowd could have been terrifying, but unfortunately this was downplayed since none of the heroes died in the movie, ergo eliminating the danger of the whole plot.

There was one terrifying scene during the final battle when the Matrix activated bots to jump off buildings to strikedown a retreating Neo and Trinity, but that’s about it. These bots were treated like low-level mobs in an RPG, whereas the original agents were terrifying boss-level enemies.

Machine Civil War/Machines Helping Humans

image taken from reddit.com

It was revealed that the time gap between the third and fourth movies was 60 years, and during that gap the machines were at war with each other. Too many people were given hope that they can be freed from the digital world, and hopeful people generated less power for the machines to use. It made sense for the machines to go to war with each other for power, but machines WORKING with humans was a surprise. Similar to how “The Oracle” was a program helping the Resistance, more programs and machines gained self-awareness and saw that the only logical way to prolong their existence is to help the humans rebuild. It was also because of the machines that the Resistance was able to free Neo and Trinity.

It was an intriguing concept to see programs making peace with the humans in a new city called “Io”, where the scientists developed nanotechnology to create holograms, with mass, so the programs can interact with the real world. Sadly, not much else is explained about the machine civil war or the freed programs. I just wished we got more backstory about the new world Neo was waking up to, but like most of the other great ideas in this movie, it was forgotten.

Now to move on to the two biggest problems this movie had….

Lazy Writing and Nostalgia

image taken from magicalquote.com

I 100% stand by Morpheus’ quote about nostalgia calming anxiety, but this movie was too reliant on nostalgia. There were brief moments throughout this movie where I saw short clips of the original trilogy, and I thought they were pretty damn cool at first, but then it became too much. This movie focused more on what the Matrix used to be, it forgot to show us what the Matrix is now!

A good example of nostalgia being used to push a new story is Ghostbusters: Afterlife. The plot from the new Ghostbusters movie made many callbacks to the original film, but this was necessary since the main characters were the grandchildren of Egon, and the villain was Gozer from the original movie. The callbacks to the original were not the main focus because it was about introducing the new era of Ghostbusters, so in a way the movie was honoring the past rather than using it as a crutch.

gif taken from tenor.com

It should also be addressed that there was a lot of lazy writing in the beginning of this movie. I mean come on, the meta commentary about Neo being forced by his boss (who is secretly a rebooted Agent Smith), to make a sequel to his Matrix trilogy titled “Matrix 4”, Neo’s dev team just ramble on and on about why people like The Matrix, and what they believe is the philosophical meaning behind the trilogy, it felt so forced. During that sequence, I was thinking to myself, “I need the red pill,” and I almost gave up watching it. I ended up finishing it because I like Neo, Trinity, Morpheus, and the new Agent Smith (who people keep shitting on, but I like him).

Final Thoughts

The movie was ok, but it could have been better, though in truth the movie should have never happened. I understand now that reboots just can’t cut it for the fans, especially cash-grab reboots. Maybe there shouldn’t be another Matrix movie….

But I think there should be a new Matrix video game, now that will make a shit ton of movie!!!

That’s all I have to say for now, I hope all enjoy yourselves on this New Year’s Eve. This is your friendly neighborhood Deadpool, signning off.

Disney has been having a decent track record when it comes to MCU content, with minimal complaints from me (unless you wanna talk about how Doctor Strange was written out of the original ending to WandaVision), so I had high hopes when I first learned about the new Hawkeye show, and so far I’m impressed by the show. I like how the show is adapting certain things from the Hawkeye 2012-2015 comic run (which is really entertaining, you should give it a read) while still putting their unique Disney spin on it. There are a lot of things I have to say about this show, so let’s get down to it.

Episode 1-2

image taken from theverge.com

The first two episodes served as an introduction to Kate Bishop, an extraordinary archer/huge Hawkeye fan, and showed us a happy Clint spending time with his kids, while also dealing with PTSD from the events of Avengers Endgame. Not only are we introduced to Kate, we are also introduced to her mother, Elenor, and stepdad, Jack Duquesne (who is the villain “Swordsman” in the comics). The episode starts off pretty slow with the introductions until we reach the end with Kate at a party for her mom’s security company, which so happens to be a front for a secret auction that Jack and his father, Armond, attend. Kate sneaks into the auction room due to her uneasiness for Jack and Armond, and she discovers that the stuff being auctioned are off are items from the destroyed Avengers Compound, and two notable items were Clint’s Ronin gear. As the auction continues, a group of people calling themselves “The Tracksuit Mafia” break into the auction to steal a Rolex watch that was also found at the compound. Kate starts to freak out, and in a panic she dons the Ronin suit, and fights her way out of the building. When she finally gets to safety, she hatches a plan to break into Armond’s house to find evidence if he’s a danger to herself and her mom, but she ends up finding him dead inside his own home.

During all this chaos, the news outlets get wind that the Ronin is in New York, and unfortunately Clint finds out as well. His original plan was to go home with his kids for Christmas, but now he has to stay in New York to clean up Ronin’s mess. He sends his kids home, and he quickly tracks down Ronin, who was being chased down by the Tracksuits. When Clint finds out that Ronin is Kate, he gets annoyed that some kid is getting herself into trouble. He takes the suit from her, and he tries to formulate a plan to cover Ronin’s tracks. Kate tells Clint that she got the suit from an auction full of items from the Avengers Compound, and she tells him that the Tracksuits stole a Rolex Watch from the auction. With this new intel, Clint goes to confront the tracksuits by himself, but Kate interferes with his plan.

These first two episodes were pretty enjoyable, but I can understand why some people were crticizing this series for showing more Kate than Clint. People want a show about Clint Barton, and they feel that this Kate Bishop is stealing his spotlight, but I don’t see it that way. When I first found out that Kate was going to be character in the show, I felt that this show was going to have a “passing of the tourch” scenario because I remember that Clint is supposed to be retired. If Kate can prove herself to be a capable hero, then maybe Clint will finally walk away from the hero gig and become a family man.

Episode 3

image taken from tvinsider.com

Episode 3 was the introduction to Maya Lopez, who in comics was the first Ronin (Clint was the second), but here she’s the boss of the Tracksuits. Most fans would call Maya a “Reverse Daredevil” since Daredevil is a blind crimefighter, whereas Maya is a deaf fighter. I like how the show is staying true to her deafness being her greatest strength, and I found it interesting that the MCU Maya has a prosthetic leg, which differs from her comic book counterpart. I do know that the actor playing Maya is deaf and an amputee in real life, and I think her take on Maya is pretty well done.

We get flashbacks from Maya’s life, and we see that her hatred towards the Ronin is because Ronin murdered her father during his war with the Tracksuits. Clint and Kate eventually escape from the Tracksuits, and then they discuss what to do next. Kate brings up that Armond’s muder could be connected to the Tracksuit robbery at the auction, and she believes that Jack Duquesne is the killer. They both break into Kate’s house so Kate can use her mom’s security software to dig up some dirt on Jack, but their investigation is cut short when Jack and Elenor arrive home.

I like how the MCU is expanding the criminal underworld, especially with the inclusion of the Tracksuits, who I believe are associated with Kingpin. I also find it a little funny that all this crime is happening in New York, and I sit there wondering “Where the hell is Spider-Man?!” This was a good episode, but things get even crazier.

Episode 4

image taken from screenrant.com

Episode 4 had a magnificent ending that I didn’t expect to see so soon. The episode started with Elenor asking Clint why he is bringing Kate along on his mission, and Clint explains that she was tangled up in some messy shit and he needed to help her, but ever since then he can’t get rid of her. Clint leaves the Bishop house after Elenor begs for Clint to leave Kate out of his mission, to which Clint agrees. When Clint arrives at his safe house to rest up, he calls his wife to see if she can run a background check on Jack Duquesne because he believes what Kate said about him being involved with the Tracksuits.

Kate shows up at Clint’s safehouse later that day with some Christmas cheer because she feels bad that Clint is missing out on the holidays because of her mess. We see some nice mentor and apprentice bonding between Clint and Kate, and Clint tells Kate the story of how he first met Natasha and how he misses her. Kate then asks if Clint lost his family during the Blip, and then she figured out that Clint is the Ronin, to which he confessed and tried to justify his actions as Ronin. Clint also tells her that her suspicions about Jack were valid since he’s a CEO of a company that launders money for the Tracksuits. They leave the safe house later that night because Clint found the location of the Rolex watch the Tracksuits stole, and Kate breaks into the apartment where the watch is in, which so happens to be Maya’s apartment. Maya gets the jump on Kate, while Clint gets attacked by a masked assilant. Eventually everyone is fighting on the same rooftop, and Maya looks confused by this masked fighter, so she makes a run for it. The assailant takes off her mask to reveal that she is Yelena, Natasha’s sister from Black Widow, and she makes a swift getaway. Clint tells Kate that this is too dangerous since he believes someone hired a Black Widow assassin to kill him, and he orders her to go home.

Seeing Yelena again was freaking awesome, and we all knew that this was going to happen eventually since the second end credits scene in Black Widow showed that Yelena was told by Madame Hydra that Clint was responsible for Natsha’s death. Bringing Yelena into the show throws a ripple into everything because now Maya’s vendetta is going to get her involved in something much bigger than herself, and Clint now has to deal with Nat’s angry sister. Even in his own show, Hawkeye can’t seem to catch a break.

Episode 5

image taken from forbes.com

What an amazing episode!!! The beginning alone was breathtaking with the reveal that Yelena was blipped! This brings a whole new prespective to her aggression towards Clint because she didn’t even know that she missed five years and that her sister died, and finding all that out at once is a lot for a person to process. There is also an interesting conversation between Yelena and Kate that really highlights how much Yelena has grown as a person. She’s witty, charismatic, and surprisingly very level-headed when you compare how closed-off and angry she was during the Black Widow movie. Yelena openily tells Kate why she wants to kill Clint and she won’t hesitate to take her down if she gets in her way, but Kate counters by asking who hired her to kill Clint. Yelena dismisses that question and leaves Kate.

Meanwhile Clint decides to put an end to his feud with Maya and her Tracksuits by setting up a meeting, which of course Maya sets it up like a trap, then her and Ronin duke it out. Clint gets the upperhand in the fight, reveals his identity to Maya, and he threatens her to stay away from him and his family or else his face is the last thing she sees. She asks why he killed her father, and he told her that he was tipped off my an informant on the location of the Tracksuits boss, Maya’s father, and his informant was one of the Tracksuits. Maya then catches Clint off guard, and when she is about to kill him, Kate saves Clint(she was tracking his phone). Maya runs off, and Kate and Clint get back to the safehouse. Maya is upset that she failed to kill Ronin, but now she’s suspicious of who betrayed her father.

Kate tells Clint that the Black Widow assassin who is trying to kill him is Nat’s sister, and responds by saying Yelena (it’s cool that Clint already knew of Yelena’s existence). While the two of them are back at their safehouse, Yelena is tailing Elenor Bishop for an unknown reason. Kate then gets a text message from Yelena telling her that Elenor was the one who put a hit on Clint, and she sends her a picture of Elenor meeting with someone who Clint knows way too well.

THE KINGPIN!!!!

This episode marked the return of not just any Kingpin, but the Kingpin from the Daredevil Netflix series!!! I was in awe when I saw him in that photo, even though I suspected his return from the very beginning. Wilson Fisk is the kind of villain we need in the MCU since he’s essentially the biggest boss in the criminal underworld, and he can pose as a huge problem in both the MCU movies and tv shows. He basically hates every Marvel superhero, especially Spider-Man and Daredevil. His appearance can also pave way for the return of Charlie Cox’s Daredevil to the MCU, as well as the other Netflix heroes!

This show has been a lot of fun to watch, and I can’t wait to see what happens in the finale coming out this week, and I’ll be here to review it. Great job on this show Marvel, you are slowly redeeming yourself. Now if I can only see the new Spider-Man movie, that would be a real treat!

Well that’s all I have for you today. This is your friendly neighborhood Poolguy signing off, and wishing you all a happy holidays.

Blog 23: Seth Rogen + Christmas Specials = Hate Monger?

Image taken from variety.com

Tis the season to be jolly, am I right pals? Apparently not! I was seeing a lot of media hate coming at this new adult cartoon on HBO MAX called “Santa INC.”, starring Seth Rogen and Sarah Silverman. All I’ve been seeing is negative reviews of this show on Twitter and Rotten Tomatoes, and I’m sitting there wondering if this show really is as bad as people are claiming it to be, so I said “fuck it” and started watching the show. I’ve just watched the first two episodes, and I can already see why the show is getting so much hate.

This gist of the show is that there’s an elf, Candy Smalls, who has dreams of becoming the first woman Santa Claus, and her dream becomes obtainable when Santa’s original successor abruptly quits to work for Amazon. Since I haven’t finished watching the show, I can only assume that the rest of the season is about Candy trying to prove to Santa and to the North Pole board of directors that she has the skills to become the new Santa, but the way this is being executed is fucking stupid.

This show is clearly trying to enforce an agenda about hating Christianity, white people, men, and America. Even in the first episode, Candy makes a joke saying to Santa that more kids in America believe in Santa then they do the vaccine and the Holocaust. Later in the same episode we get this speech that tries to be inspirational with the topic of how the title/role of Santa is a white man’s game, and later we are introduced to Santa’s inner circle of friends who all act like a bunch of frat guys! A “Boys Club” if I were to give it a different description. Also for some strange reason all the reindeers in this show are black stereotypes.

“Santa INC.” is s show that tried to be poltical, but since it relies too much on “America is bad”, “All white people are bad”, “Christianity is dumb” jokes, it gives the show pure hate mongering vibes. Also the idea of checking Santa’s white privilege is a total dick move on Seth’s and Sarah’s part. Christmas is about family and unity amongst friends to celebrate the jolly times, it’s not about this woke Puritan crap. Yeah we already get American society sucks, but we don’t need a Christmas special about it!

This whole thing gets even worse when you go on Twitter and see this:

image taken from Twitter

So apprently since I hate the show, I’m a white supremacist? What kind of fucking logic is that, Seth?! Are you seriously blaming nazis and other white supremacists for your show sucking, and you how can you call all your viewers racist if they don’t like your dumpster fire of a show?

I miss when filmmakers would blame themselves if people didn’t like their movies or tv shows, but now having filmmakers blame the viewers is so pathetic! Literally nobody likes this show, just look at this score:

Image taken from rottentomatoes.com

A 4% SCORE!!!! Not even the Twitter Puritans like this show, and I think that was Seth’s target audience. It’s a real shame because I like Seth Rogen movies like “The Green Hornet”, “Zack and Miri Make a Porno”, “This is the End”, “The Interview”, “Superbad”, and “Good Boys”. I remember when Seth Rogen used to be funny, but now he’s devolved into a cringy Puritan, and the same can be said for Sarah Silverman. How HBO gave a green light for this show to be made is unfathomable.

If you want to know more about this whole mess, and if you’re interested in seeing Rotten Tomatoes act a little suspicious when it comes to “Santa INC.” reviews, watch this video by the youtuber YellowFlash 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=velM2DyG_ZM

To everyone who subscribes to HBO Max, I would advise you to not watch “Santa INC.” anytime soon. There are much better Christmas movie options available to watch on MAX, like “A Christmas Story”, “Elf”, “The Polar Express”, or that new movie “8-Bit Christmas”.

That’s all I have for today, hope you all have a great day. This is Happy Holidays from your friendly neighborhood Poolguy, signing off.

Blog 22: A Time for Thanks and Family

image taken from comingsoon.net

Hello everyone! I would first like to apologize for my absence, I was having a little “blogger’s block”, but what better way to alleviate that block than a national holiday like Thanksgiving!

It’s a holiday like this that prones me to reflect on all the crazy things that have happened to me this past year. I graduated with a BA in Psychology, I ventured to my first comic-con since 2020, and I decided to make a twitter account (which has been pretty entertaining so far)! I also have a lot to be thankful for, like my family. I know I don’t normally talk about my family affairs on any of my social medias, but I just want to dedicate this small blog post to thanking my family for having my back during school and through this pandemic. Even these last few days were a little nerve racking because my dad was feeling sick, and I’m talking like “staying home from work and sleeping in a different room” kind of sick. Thankfully he tested negative for both Covid and the flu, and he started feeling a lot better today. No more body aches, fevers, or drowsiness from him.

My mom was so relieved, and it made me think for a moment. 2020 has made us look at sickness very differently now. My dad had a simple cold and some of us were already thinking the worst, and it reminded me of a little situation I went through a few months ago. You see I was hanging out with my friend at the mall with a neat store that sold a bunch of manga, and I noticed that my friend’s nose was a little stuffy and he was coughing/sneezing a lot. I asked him if he was feeling alright and he told me it was just his allergies bothering him. Two days later I started feeling sick with the same symptoms my friend had, and my folks freaked out and made me get a Covid test. I got the rapid test, which was negative, but my mom made me quarantine until I scheduled an appointment to take a PCR test. I was three days into my quarantine when I went to take my PCR test, with my results coming back negative the next day, which proved that I was just going through a summer cold, but nonetheless my mom made quarantine for the rest of the week.

I was bored out of my mind during that quarantine, but I knew it was necessary to maintain the mental well-being of the house. Mental well-being is very important, especially now since society is slowly trying to return to a sense of normalcy. Let’s all just take a moment today to acknowledge the good our family does for each other, even if some of the things they do may be a little over the top, we do it because we love each other!

I’m also thankful for you: my followers on Instagram and my readers on this blog. You people are the best, and thank you all for supporting little ol’ me, and I couldn’t be happier with the fanbase I’ve gathered here!

Hope everyone enjoys their Thanksgiving, and to the Puritins on Twitter who are making people bad for celebrating this holidiay, I get what you’re trying to do, but don’t be a fucking asshole about it. Now I’m off to watch the new Hawkeye show on Disney+, and I’ll be back with my review on the first two episodes.

This is your friendly neighborhood cosplayer, signing off!

Blog 21: Society is a Hypocrisy

*WARNING: THIS ARTICLE WILL BE DISCUSSING THE MESS OF SOCIETY, WOKE CULTURE, AND CANCEL CULTURE*

image taken from sipri.org

In the year 2021, what makes somebody an outcast in a society supposedly influenced by acceptance? Having a different opinion. At least that is the case with people like Dave Chappelle and Bill Burr, two people that I believe are the last two true comedians.

For those of you who have been stuck in the woods for the past few weeks without any internet, Netflix released a Dave Chappelle comedy special called The Closer, and it has attracted a lot of attention from the Twitter Puritians who are trying to cancel Chappelle for being “homophobic” and “transphobic” during this special and all of his previous specials. When I first caught wind of this, I immediately told myself “I need to watch that shit”, and after watching it from start to finish, I can honestly say that it was funny as hell!

image taken from netflix.com

Everything Chappelle said in The Closer was meant to be taken as a joke and nothing else. He has once never said that he hated gay people or transgender people, and he has admitted that the only group of people he has ever had a problem with are white people (probably the Karens and the Kevins, we all have a problem with them). Throughout the special, he spoke about how people today seem to have the inability to take a joke, and their immediate response to hearing something they don’t like is rant about it on the internet (and yes I do see the irony in that statement, but stay with me here).

Chappelle does bring up a lot of points about today’s society that even I found very obscure, such as the whole situation with the DaBaby. DaBaby got cancelled because he said some pretty hurtful things about the LGBTQ community (not lying here, what he said was a little fucked up), and he did apologize for his comments, but that’s not the end of it. Back in 2018, DaBaby shot and killed a person in a Walmart in self-defense. The rapper literally took a man’s life, and people don’t get upset with him until he makes some homophobic comments on the internet? I am in no way defending the DaBaby, I’m just pointing out how stupid and weird the whole situation is, which is why Chappelle made a joke about it.

Dave Chappelle’s jokes are not only hilarious, but they also make people think for a moment. During my time as a Psych student at Queens College, I learned that certain kinds of jokes people make reflect on that person’s innermost thoughts, which means that all of Dave’s humor in that special is just a mere reflection of his own opinions on woke culture and canceled culture, and he doesn’t give a crap if people hate his opinions or not. Frankly I don’t believe in some of the topics he brought up in his special, but I’m not going to go rant about it on Twitter.

image taken from sillysockonfriday.com

I would also like to bring up how Dave Chappelle has not apologized for his jokes, and he should not have to say sorry to anybody. The executives at Netflix apologized to their viewers for the special, which is dumb by the way and I’ll get to that in a minute, but not Dave. He is standing his ground on this whole mess and I applaud him for doing so. An apology will just be him admitting that what he said was wrong when clearly it wasn’t. Sure he said some outrageous jokes about LGBTQ and other social groups, but he didn’t say those things to be hurtful. Dave making jokes about people being too sensitive these days, and then having this social media outrage just proves his jokes to be true. Netflix should not have apologized for the special because it makes them look spineless towards the Puritans.

The Puritans basically want to metaphorically burn Chappelle at the prye via cancellation, but ironically their attempt to cancel Dave has just made him more popular. Hell, he recently had a sold out show in London, and he said there that if Netflix takes down his special, he’ll just do a tour around the US(which will make him a lot of money). The hate he is getting is just making him stronger, like throwing wood into a fire, and what’s happening to Chappelle is very similar to the attention that South Park usually attracts.

image taken from variety.com

The cartoon that started as a satirical view on society, religion, culture groups, and social trends has evolved into a documentary about modern-day life, South Park is notorious for pissing off just about everyone because they have the guts to expose the idiocracy of today’s world. Everyday feels like an episode of South Park, from protests over a fucking comedy special, to almost everything form of media being used for a poltical agenda, and to people being publicly shamed for having an opinion that differs from the mainstream culture, it’s a fucking mess. I’m getting sick and tired of seeing all these Puritans complaining about new shows and comic books for not being “woke” enough or for “hurting people’s feelings’ ‘, just shut the hell up already! Not everything has to be a political statement.

This is exactly why I like the dark humor that comes from shows like South Park or from comedians like Dave Chappelle, it’s because of shows and people like them that are brave enough to call people out on their bullshit. I’ve said it previous blogs that Woke Culture was started with noble intentions of dispensing justice on a social media/entertainment level, but now it’s becoming a form of censorship. Tarnishing old media for being insulting and cancelling people over some old immature comments is completely ludicrous, and let’s not forget controlling how new shows/movies get created. Woke culture carried an ideal of acceptance without ridicule, but those very same people would throw one of their own into a ditch if they have an original thought. It’s as if these people believe that they are the judge for what counts as “acceptable content”, and most of time their “acceptable content” is subpar political nonsense.

The point I’m trying to make is that this whole social media mess over Dave Chappelle’s The Closer proves that the Puritans who pride themselves for being above the bigots are no different from them. Cursing out people who liked the special is completely immature of them, and what should be happening is civil conversation explaining why exactly they found the special offensive. If everyone can stop fighting with each other and just talk about their issues in a neutral space, the world will be a lot calmer. Hell, world peace might be achieved if we can admit that we’re all assholes and just get over ourselves.

That’s all for now….I’ll see you all in the next blog.

Blog 20: The Afterlife is Looking Pretty Sweet

image taken from showbiz411.com

It started out as a normal panel at New York Comic-Con. I was sitting in the Empire Stage with my friend and family, and we were all waiting to watch the Ghostbusters: Afterlife panel featuring the cast and directors, along with exclusive clips from the movie. The panel started with director Jason Reitman bringing out his dad, Ivan Reitman, and the rest of the Afterlife cast to talk a little bit about the film’s production. Everyone talked about how they had a blast during production, and how daunting it was when they had to stop filming because of the pandemic.

Jason Reitman then told the DJ to get the clips ready, but then he started to talk about how amazing it was that they were doing a Ghostbusters panel at NYCC, in the very city where the first Ghostbusters movie was filmed. Then he started talking about how patient the Ghostbuster fans are for waiting for the new movie after it was delayed, and that we have been patient for long enough. He told us to sit and enjoy, and please sit through the credits because everyone worked really hard on making the movie. The lights dimmed to darkness, the projector started rolling, the glowing word of “SONY ” appeared on the screen, and Ghostbusters: Afterlife started to play.

My Thoughts

After the credits finished, feeling the goosebumps all over my body, the lights turned on, and everyone in the theater gave a standing ovation to the wonderful film we just witnessed!

I promised myself that I would spoil anything, so I will only say that I loved the movie! All Ghostbusters fans will enjoy the movie, and even people who don’t know a lot about the Ghostbusters will still enjoy the hell out of this movie. Ghostbusters: Afterlife is a great Ghostbusters movie and a great regular movie. I will definitely buy myself a ticket to see it again when it comes out in November (Novemeber 19th if you’re curious).

Defense

One last thing I will say about the movie is that everyone who WAS NOT at the fan-screening should ignore all the “movie critic” review articles that are popping up around the web. All of these critics keep trying to put this movie down in favor for that dumpster fire that is 2016’s Ghostbusters, and till this day I cannot understand why.

The best advice I can give you if you’re really invested into reading reviews is to read FAN REVIEWS! Never listen to the critics because those bastards praise a poltical agenda like it’s some fucking religion, and they’ll metaphorically burn you at a prye if you have an opinion that differs from theirs. These critics have developed a mentality where they think the stuff they like is hot shit, when most of the time it isn’t! Just trust the reviews that the intended audience/fans make, or better yet don’t listen to reviews. Go with your gut when it comes to new movies or tv shows, fuck reviews in general (except resturant reviews, those reviews I take to heart). For a deeper look into why “woke critic” hate for Ghostbusters: Afterlife, click this link:https://youtu.be/RjNpfqJ4948

Also if you readers want to read a small article about the amount of excitement everyone at the fan-screening had, check out this article from SyFy Wire: https://www.syfy.com/syfywire/ghostbusters-afterlife-fans-react-to-surprise-sneak-peek-at-nycc-2021

Final Thoughts

I love Ghostbusters: Afterlife! It felt like a true sequel to the original movies. The story was fast, crazy, and the cast of characters worked really well together. I left the panel with a great feeling joy, and that’s how all movies should make people feel. Movies are meant to be an escape from our mundane reality, and people should be walking out of the theater feeling good, at least that’s what I believe. I highly recommend for all of you to go watch the movie as soon as it comes out.

That’s all I had to say, and I hope you all enjoy the rest of your day. This is your cosplayer for fun saying good-bye and until next time.
