Social media never fails to amuse and disgust me with it’s utter stupidity! If you don’t know by now the old cable channel G4, which I held to high regard for being one of the greatest channels to exist because it’s all about tech and video games, has been trying to get itself back into the mainstream with their YouTube channel “G4TV”. Apparently this channel has been around since 2006 (one of the golden years of YouTube), but they have recently gathered more attention because of a little meltdown one their hosts had on their secondary channel X-Play. The gist of her rant is that she is addressing the “sexism in video games” by calling out people who comment that she is not as hot or “bangable” as the previous female hosts. She also goes on to say some weird crap about accussing men of objectifying women by saying that they are attractive, and she basically told the entire audience to go fuck themselves.
First of all, the people calling her “unbangable” are just your average internet trolls, everyone has them! Secondly, finding someone attractive is not objectification, that’s basic laws of sexual attraction! Finally, you shouldn’t be calling most of your audience a bunch of sexist assholes, that’s a sure-fire way to turn the show you host into a joke. Also can we talk about how she admits that the hosts of a “VIDEO GAME SHOW”, who claim to be gamers, don’t even write their own gaming reviews? This makes them look like a bunch of posers who are just using the gaming platform to preach their political ideologies.
You also have another host like Adam “Idiot” Sessler tweeting some of dumbest things I’ve seen on Twitter so far:
I may assume that Sessler hates republicans, but to go so far and say the republicans in your family can eat shit and die? No person with a functioning brain cell would tweet something so horrendous, and what’s worse is that I think he’s only saying this to appease the Twitter Puritans! Why do people like them think it is a good idea to insult the majority of their audience, especially when they’re a representative for a platform that promotes diversity and peace within the gaming community. Also having Frosk say “Don’t like it, don’t watch it” during her rant is an easy way to lose your fanbase (this echoes Kelly Sue DeConnick’s “If you don’t like my politics, don’t buy my book”). I don’t like how they talk about politics instead of video games, and clearly that means I’m not welcomed to their shows, so I will be doing my best to stay away from their channels.

Is this mess that G4TV caused going to fade away from the mainstream? Probably yes. Will their reputation heal? Chances of that are pretty slim. All I know is that G4TV messed up when they tried to promote the rant on Twitter and employ Twitter Puritan morons to host their show. What G4 is doing is the exact same thing Marvel is doing with their comic books; trying to appease the masses on Twitter. Going “woke” is never a smart business strategy for entertainment outlets, especially when they are purposely trying to alienate themselves from their audience.
It’s an utter disgrace to see something I loved become corrupted by today’s hypocrisy.
