Blog 20: The Afterlife is Looking Pretty Sweet

It started out as a normal panel at New York Comic-Con. I was sitting in the Empire Stage with my friend and family, and we were all waiting to watch the Ghostbusters: Afterlife panel featuring the cast and directors, along with exclusive clips from the movie. The panel started with director Jason Reitman bringing out his dad, Ivan Reitman, and the rest of the Afterlife cast to talk a little bit about the film’s production. Everyone talked about how they had a blast during production, and how daunting it was when they had to stop filming because of the pandemic.

Jason Reitman then told the DJ to get the clips ready, but then he started to talk about how amazing it was that they were doing a Ghostbusters panel at NYCC, in the very city where the first Ghostbusters movie was filmed. Then he started talking about how patient the Ghostbuster fans are for waiting for the new movie after it was delayed, and that we have been patient for long enough. He told us to sit and enjoy, and please sit through the credits because everyone worked really hard on making the movie. The lights dimmed to darkness, the projector started rolling, the glowing word of “SONY ” appeared on the screen, and Ghostbusters: Afterlife started to play.

My Thoughts

After the credits finished, feeling the goosebumps all over my body, the lights turned on, and everyone in the theater gave a standing ovation to the wonderful film we just witnessed!

I promised myself that I would spoil anything, so I will only say that I loved the movie! All Ghostbusters fans will enjoy the movie, and even people who don’t know a lot about the Ghostbusters will still enjoy the hell out of this movie. Ghostbusters: Afterlife is a great Ghostbusters movie and a great regular movie. I will definitely buy myself a ticket to see it again when it comes out in November (Novemeber 19th if you’re curious).

Defense

One last thing I will say about the movie is that everyone who WAS NOT at the fan-screening should ignore all the “movie critic” review articles that are popping up around the web. All of these critics keep trying to put this movie down in favor for that dumpster fire that is 2016’s Ghostbusters, and till this day I cannot understand why.

The best advice I can give you if you’re really invested into reading reviews is to read FAN REVIEWS! Never listen to the critics because those bastards praise a poltical agenda like it’s some fucking religion, and they’ll metaphorically burn you at a prye if you have an opinion that differs from theirs. These critics have developed a mentality where they think the stuff they like is hot shit, when most of the time it isn’t! Just trust the reviews that the intended audience/fans make, or better yet don’t listen to reviews. Go with your gut when it comes to new movies or tv shows, fuck reviews in general (except resturant reviews, those reviews I take to heart). Final Thoughts

I love Ghostbusters: Afterlife! It felt like a true sequel to the original movies. The story was fast, crazy, and the cast of characters worked really well together. I left the panel with a great feeling joy, and that’s how all movies should make people feel. Movies are meant to be an escape from our mundane reality, and people should be walking out of the theater feeling good, at least that’s what I believe. I highly recommend for all of you to go watch the movie as soon as it comes out.

That’s all I had to say, and I hope you all enjoy the rest of your day. This is your cosplayer for fun saying good-bye and until next time.
