Blog #10: Uncharted Territory

*THIS BLOG CONTAINS SPOILERS OF LOKI EPISODE 3&4! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!*

Taken from decider.com

I was a little busy this past week, so to make up for not writing a blog about episode three, I’ve decieded to do a “super-sized” session.

These last two episodes were pretty damn insane. Episode three offered us a glimpse into the kind of person Sylvie, and she is not a particularly “evil” person. Much like our Loki, Sylvie seems to be a victim of being manipulated by a much higher power. Loki was lied to about his heritage, shunned by his people, and was basically pushed to do evil deeds in order to seen and heard. Sylvie on the other hand was snacthed away from her home by the TVA when she was a fucking child, and was forced to go on the run from them. Why was Sylvie arrested by the TVA, no one knows for sure, but some theories state that her “crime” was that she didn’t want to cause any mischief. She wanted to live a life of being morally good, but according to the “Sacred Timeline”, all Lokis are meant to be villains.

Along with learning about the cruel life of Sylvie, she drops a major plot twist by revealing to Loki that all the TVA agents are variants. Mobius, B-15, all of them had real lives back in the timeline, but it seems that they have all been brainwashed into thinking they were created by the Timekeepers, who are a biggest lie in the TVA!

Both Loki and Sylvie were “Wizard of Oz-ed” and found out that the Timekeepers, the creators of the “Sacred Timeline”, are a bunch of fakes! Fucking robots!!!

Now since the Timekeepers were just robots, who is really in charge of the TVA? Who made themselves in charge of deciding the flow of time? Only one suspect comes to mind:

Kang the fucking Conquerer!

For those who don’t know, Kang the Conquerer (aka Nathaniel Richards) is from the 30th century, and he is a descendent of Reed Richards. He is villian who has set out to conquer all of time itself, and he has been defeated numerous times by the Avengers and Fantastic Four. Kang’s main gimmick is his ability to time travel, which seems to act as a form of plot armor for his evil deeds, such as altering the timeline. Though as more retcons and reboots are being added to the comics, the origins and nature of Kang keep altering, but somehow he always remains dead set on taking over the timeline, no matter what universe he’s in.

The reason why Kang should be considered as the prime suspect for being the mastermind behind the TVA is because he’s the only character within the Marvel Multiverse who is smart enough to pull off something like that. Also Kang has already been casted into the new Antman movie, so it’s not that far of a stretch for him to also appear in an episode of Loki. Maybe he’s not the mastermind behind the TVA, but I have a feeling he’s involved in this somehow.

Now in other Loki news, Loki seems to have the hots from Sylvie, and it has people upset, happy, and weirded out. Let’s be real here, Loki falling in love with a variant of himself is not the weirdest relationship he’s had. He did have sex with a horse in Norse mythology, so him wanting to “screw himself” (or themselves?) is a little predictable for him. In DC comics, John Constantine made out with his Earth 2 doppelganger. Also Deadpool and Lady Deadpool(his female doppelganger) kissed once, but they both found it very weird. The point is, characters falling for their doppelgangers is standard comic book protocol.

Speaking of doppelgangers, that end-credit scene in episode four with Loki meeting his other variants was mind blowing! First, we find out that when variants get “pruned” from the timeline, they all get sent to another dimension. Second, if Loki found three other Lokis in that “Variant Wasteland”, who knows how many other Lokis are there, or if there are any variants of other characters there (I would love to see Loki meet a Thor variant there)!

This damn show continues to be amazing, and I’ll even say that this show is even better than some of the MCU movies. I am really excited to see what happens in episode five tomorrow, and tune in here to see what I think!
